are scooters (vespa-type scooter) highway rideable?
looking a little more on craigslist (after the ninja)...

No. Used to ride a scooter all the time when I was in college and can say that it got a little hairy on open surface streets. The freeway would have been a disaster.

Freeways usually have minimum horsepower requirements, I doubt it would have enough to qualify.

I have yet to see one person ride scooter on the freeway so my guess is no.

Highway
Legally the definition of a scooter is a two wheeled vehicle with an engine that is under 50cc's and is limited to 30mph. They actually put limiters on there to slow you down. After I took those off my scooter does about 45 mph maybe 50 if its running well and its downhill and... but no where near fast enough to get on a highway.
With the smaller wheels you would never get on the highway with them anyway. |
