So..Are You Driving Less.....

now that gasoline prices are up?

I know I am. I try to schedule trips over 5 miles from my home where I then stop at multiple places instead of randomly going to one place one day and another place the next day.

No more frivolous trips for me.

A little bit. Most of my trips are unaviodable, like going to work and the gym, but discretionary trips are without a doubt down a bit.

i don't drive a ton of miles as it is, but i fill up once every 10 days ... so when the gas goes up 10cents, i'm only paying $1.50 more every 10-14 days. no biggie.

My commute is only 10 minutes on surface streets. My Honda can go for 2 weeks if I don't drive too much on the weekends.

I don't care. I'll worry when it get's to a worry price, like 15 bucks a gallon.

With everything else in Los Angeles priced high, I'm surprised gas doesn't cost $5/gallon. In any case, my round trip to work is about 14 miles, so I can go about 2 weeks on 1 tank of gas.

As a percentage the hikes affect you the same. I'd cut down extra driving to bring my gas bill back down to it's low usual.

I drive 60 on cruise control now. Dropping it back from 70-75 has gotten me 40 extra miles per tank.

I drive a Grand Cherokee (yes, it's as bad on gas as you'd expect), and honestly, it's not that big of a deal to me. I fill up maybe once every two weeks, and if it's $4 more at the pump, not a big deal.

Same distance

I just short shift a lot more and coast. Try to time the lights so there is no stop and go. My 15 mile trip to work probably takes an extra 3 minutes with my conservative style but i also increased my tank limit from 300 to 370 so the cost per week is about the same. Hmm i dont feel the need to try and get out of driving, i have a new rsx and i enjoy driving. Although a few times i just wanted to go for a spin but decided to read a book instead. sigh...

Strangely enough, that's the speed limit.

Yeah, I stay on the right and be a good boy. I have to say that driving slower has lowered my stress level quite a bit.

I'm lucky if I could drive 60 mph on the freeway here in SoCal.

The answer is that since I no longer drive 80 miles a day to work, yes....but otherwise no. We just drive our BMW more since it gets better gas mileage than my V8 does. I will be happy when we get rid of my car.

You go slower because of the traffic or faster because of "the flow"?
