Mother frucking BMW is back in the shop AGAIN

I am absolutely incensed that I had to bring our 3 series into the shop AGAIN as the convertible top is not going down automatically again. BMW is about to get a nasty call from me. Just venting.

Its a 98 323cic with low miles, we only have 70k on it when the standard use would be 84k.

As for a lemon law attorney, since its an older car it wouldnt be a clear lemon law case. The only thing in our favor is that we bought it as a CPO 2 years ago. For non-new lemon law, they look at whether the express warranty covered it and whether the number of problems was reasonable.

Guess you should have bought a Buick! (Buicks are more reliable than BMWs?)

BMW called me this morning telling me that the tension straps had died. I told them that THEY had just replaced them at our cost not that long ago and there is no way that the straps should have died in that amount of time. The service rep told me that I would need to talk to the service manager about the problem. Suffice it to say, I spoke with the service manager, who had no clue what I was talking about and said he would get back to me.

Three hours later, I called back to see what was up and the service rep told me that the service manager was still looking over the facts to make a decision. An hour later they called and said that it should not have worn out yet and they were going to replace it at their costs, even though "they didnt have to and were doing so just for us".

Either way, the car is being fixed at no cost to me, so that makes me happy. I just love their reasoning as to how they would not hace to fix it and decided to do so out of customer service.

I'm personally a huge fan of Toyota and Lexus. My parents absolutely love Volvos and they have served their purpose very well, including protecting people in accidents, so I can't argue with their case that Volvo's are safe cars that get you from A to B.

My 'rents had a Mercedes Benz. I hated it. I don't like Mercedes. I don't like BMW. I don't have a good explanation for it, but that's just my personal feeling.

i dont know about that. ive never met anyone else whose had such a bad problem with thier bimmer. lemons happen with every car company. my e36 318i only had one problem the whole time i had it and it was fixed under warrenty the first time (cat failed, got a rental for the whole day). i have met a few people who have taken thier newer benz to the shop for warranty problems a few times for the same problem, but eventually got thier car fixed.

i wouldnt judge any car company by the lemons, unless all thier cars were lemons.

im looking for 2 cars right now and my top choice for both is bmw (3 or 5) and my second choice for one is mercedes (e class) because ive had good experiences with both.

I would chose the G35 over the 3 series (except M3) and E320.

Please, a car that costs that much should be on the road more often than its supposed to be on the shop.

just cuz his bmw is like this doesnt make all bmws like that .

In most cases, it is a manufacturer's fault. BMWs are notorious for electronic malfunctions, so are MBs. It has nothing to do with how you take care of it. Most people who own BMWs take good care of their BMWs cuz ownership costs are high.

That is why I don't buy BMW. I would lease it for 3 years and give the problem child back to its original owner, the dealer.
