Check the courts

I know here in Ohio if you opt to not pay a ticket you can go to court. If it works the same in California call the clerk of courts office the day before your court date and see if your on the docket. If you are quickly pay your ticket. If your not you should be home free.

If they have lost your ticket, have them send you written confirmation that your slate is clean. Once you've got that letter, they really can't suddenly "find" your ticket and make you pay.

Dont worry... it will show up

I have had the same thing happen. The ticket system is slow. I thought I was going to get away with a ticket. Nope. How long has it been since you got the ticket? It takes a while to process it.

Dont fall for it. Go down there and straighten it out. I got a ticket there once that I thought I took care of. 4 years later one of my employers finds out I have a warrant out on me. I'd been pulled over a few times during those 4 years and nothing was ever said about a warrant. I go to court and explain the situation and the @sshole judge hit's me for over 2k for failure to appear. My Lawyer (not present cuz I didnt think I needed him) thought it was ridiculous. On top of that it was the most unprofessional court I'd ever been to. Court employees acutally laughed out loud at other defendents. Everything was an inside joke to those jerks. Judge acted like he was running one of those small southern towns and basically hammered everyone who went before him. For me it was money, but for these other dudes it was maximum sentence time.

But wait theres more. A couple years ago some Pomona Judge is busted for sleeping with an inmates wife. Telling her to play nice if she wants her husband to get out early. Turns out to be the same ahole judge I had. Payback is a...

Did they list the correct name on your "courtesy notice?" They screwed up my last name (clumped it with my middle) on my notice, and I couldn't find it on their system. Thing is, they still had my driver's license number.

I would say a month's too early to tell, but you did the crime, just pay the fine and be done with it.

Like Jello said, "don't fall for it."

I'd wait for something to come in the mail.
If nothing has arrived within' a week of your scheduled appearance date, make another visit to the court and see if it's still not in the system.
