Handymen -- how do I fix this?

It fell off in the heat while I was in classes today. I tried pressing on it, but it keeps falling off. Is there a type of glue I should look for at the store? Or another way?

I think that they sell "mirror glue" kinda like a gel form of "Super Glue" at Auto Zone...

I've had to fix mine as well. If you go to any auto parts store they should be able to get you the glue. Its kinda like an epoxy, you have the glue in one container, then a second "activator" substance that you pre-wipe the surface with.

Make sure you use a good solvent like acetone to wipe off all the dry residue from the original adherent before glueing the mirror back on. Otherwise it will pop right off again after a good bump or pothole.

you might need to get a new mount bracket as well..check at any autozone or auto parts store for one. and um..leave your windows open a crack and have a windshield thingy to block the sun when you're not in your car-that will keep the temp inside the car down.

Why would the rear view mirror falling off make the car temperature rise?

NOO duh...HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE CAR CAN CONTRIBUTE TO THE MOUNT BRACKET COMING OFF..it looses the epoxy. *rolls eyes*...don't you guys know anything???? oh yeh and btw-make sure when you put the knew epoxy on the window you do it when the car isn't a billion degrees inside or out-it wont stick.

No... what she is saying is that when he re-sticks the mounting bracket onto the windshield, to leave the side windows cracked to vent out some of the heat of the vehicle sittin' out in the sun to allow the glue to harden... not that the rear view mirror causes the temps to rise.

Loctite makes many different products. Make sure you get an adhesive specifically made for bonding to glass.

any kind of acetone usually works-try nailpolish remover as a last resort but make sure it has acetone in it.

I used duct tape. It kinda works, and it goes well with this:

when a vandal ripped it off and threw it on the side of the parking lot while i was sleeping

duct tape = all i can afford, since i have to make a $2750 lump payment for a 1 year apartment lease in a month

Well maybe I should have left out that the glass surface I was looking to fix wasn't on a car? It's glass, I need a bonding agent, who cares where it is, let's move on!

It turns out there's an Advance Auto Parts in between my apartment and campus... who know? I got a $2 2-tube kit that's supposed to have the removal agent and the new glue
