My 64-1/2 Mustang

Well, I finally decided what I am going to do with my Mustang.

In a previous thread, I was debating whether to leave it stock or modify it.
It's been sitting for 15 years in my driveway. I totally restored it back then, spending probably 400-500 hours labor trying to make it right.

I neglected the car, since I got incredibly busy at work, too tired to do anything at all, plus a lot of other projects got in the way.

I finally have time to work on it. It's a six cylinder, 3 speed manual trans with manual steering and non-power brakes. It's not a very desirable car because it's so basic.

Today I decided that since I have invested so much time in the car, I am going to make it a daily driver for myself.

I am going to install power disc brakes from an early Granada, power steering, a different rear end, and an automatic transmission. I have located most of the parts for fairly good prices.

I am debating whether to keep the six or not but am leaning toward a fuel injected 302. There aren't too many early Mustangs with late model FI engines around here, so this should be quite different.

Hopefully, if everything goes right, I will be done by Fall.

That will be sweet when you get it all together, sounds like you have an alright ride already. Espcially if you already got rid of all the cancer. Re-post some pics so we can all see again.

Yes, I am doing everything myself. The only thing I didn't do 15 years ago was the welding of the frame rails and quarter panels. However, I bought a MIG welder since then and will use it for future projects.

Just don't do anything crazy like they did the the 67-68 Mustang on Pimp My Ride...putting a flat panel tv in the headliner is a bit much. I am a big fan of keeping classic cars classic. I can understand upgrading the brakes and drivetrain though, especially if you are going to make it a daily driver.

Well, I am thinking about taking out the rear seat, cutting out a large hole in the roof and installing a PortaPottie.

But that's just practical...you know, for when I am going on long trips

bwahahahaha.... too funny JMK. That might make it a truly original design though it might cut down on fuel efficiency

The paint has faded incredibly. There is nothing special about it the way it sits. Just a regular red coupe with real wire wheels.
And I will be repacing them with 16" wheels, probably ARE Torq Thrust.

Stang lovers would kill me for the way I let it go. So no pictures for now. Sorry
