That Charger looks fugly. A stupid lame attempt at updating the Avenger. Why can't Chrysler start making better designs? The awful Stealth, that was both ugly and slow, their cookie cutter rental cars. Bah.

They should try and catch up with the Germans that have 497hp V8s or 600+hp V12s.

Nah, the 3000GT for some reason looked so much more ... better.
![]() That and I had to school someone in a Stealth on the way to San Diego once. Sucker learned just because you drive a tame looking car, doesn't mean the driver is tame. Personal context always sheds light into my bias against certain cars. ![]() |

They were twins...with minor cosmetic changes. The 3000GT was the better looking of the two.

Yeah, I'm calling you on this one as well... among the domestic mfrs, DC has by FAR the most innovative designs. The Crossfire, new 300M, Durango, Pacifica, PT Cruiser, Magnum - they blow away anything else that Ford & GM do in terms of innovation, and show up a lot of the foreign automakers as well. |

Honestly, Chrysler needs to reinvent itself. They're stuck on the art deco age. The whole scheme is getting quite used up and boring to me. Maybe it's a touchstone for them, but it's old for me.

Its funny how Chrysler is basically saying F fuel economy and saving the environment. They are just making cars with gobs of hp and tq by creating bigass motors. lol. thats great. If 10% of Americans drove Hemi powere vehicles, we would probably have a 60% increase in gas demand.
oh yeah and i agree with speedy Quote:

well, they could still do cylinder deactivation thing, where they only have 1/2 the cylinders running. that brought the 300C to have decent EPA ratings for a large car.

After three really bad Chrysler product vehicles, we swore off them permanently.
I really feel that if they would pay a lot more attention to body integrity and quality overall, they would be much better off. All three of the vehicles we purchased, the body rattled (mainley in the dash area, and doors). The performance was OK, one vehicle had to have three pistons replaced in the engine before 3,000 miles on it. This engine pinged on super fuel and the Service mgr told us we would just have to live with it. The other two were OK, as well as getting us from here to there, but the quality of the vehicle was far below what we had been used to. Toyota was the mfg line we had been driving before the guy talked us into Chrysler Products. The worse problem than all, is the resale value. Chrysler vehicles depreciate faster than any of the other mfg companies. So be ready, if you purchase one of thier cars, or trucks, don't ever think you could trade it in for another line and get anything for it.

They really do need a car in the $25-$35k range that doesn't SUCK and a sports car that isn't $88k, not that the viper sucks at all (http://www.gotapex.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75437 (Had a 2004 Viper Memorial Day Weekend)).
Hopefully they do release the charger, even w/ the 5.7L hemi.

And what 3 Chrysler products did you own? Hopefully nothing from the "K Car" years.... But anyways, I still think that Chrysler's image is on the rise nowadays. And so far, I've not had ANY problems with my Ram 1500 HEMI... so I'm not gonna go lookin' for 'em either. And even if they do eventually happen (as with anything man-made) I have my warranty and it's extension to 7 years 70,000 miles bumper to bumper to back me up. Pretty much I've had Ford and Chevy in the past and they both had their problems as well (including RESALE value) It's just something that happens, but hey... some of us don't buy a car based on resale... especially if we plan on keepin' 'em till the doors fall off. ![]() |

“They could probably get 375 or 380 out of it with no problem at all,” he said, putting the engine in league with the classic Hemi engines of the 1950s and 1960s.
Err, no. Those old engines were rated in gross horsepower, current engines are rated net. Put one of those old engines on one of today's dynos and you'd find that most produce less power than today's modern engines. It's an apples-to-oranges statement. Anyway, I like the Charger concept. If the 6.1 Hemi keeps the cylinder deactivation feature, I'm all for it.

The hemi's were grossly (pun intended) underrated. In most cases, their gross horsepower was in fact what they made net.
