12 Second Ford Focus

The August issue of Motor Trend has a showdown between a 5.0 equipped Ford Focus and a Lamborghini. Their performances came pretty close.

The 5.0 conversion parts are available from Ford for nearly $15,000. Add another 200 hours and you have a $40K rocket, although I doubt there will be many takers, considering how homely the car is.

It's not only about how fast the car but it's also about the styling.

Actually, the fastest focus I know of runs 11s. It has pretty much a stock engine that's been built up a bit. They also run in the 11s if you do the terminator V8 swap. I believe the turbo and the beefed up transmission for the 11s focus run 8K + drag radials. That's on the 2.0L engine. The 2.3 L engine is just starting to be tinkered with but it looks promising. Basically a 14 second car with bolt ons.

I really like the bold shapes of the focus. It's all very geometrical I get compliments all the time on the interior too.

I think it's ugly....

but yeah...maybe I'm getting old or something, but for 40k, I'd rather just get a decent luxury car.

And a NEW "Sho-gun" is born...

I wonder what the 0 - 60 times are on it? The Sho-gun was like 0-60 in 4.8 seconds with a Yamaha SHO V6 in it.

I think it is neat to see a project where they turned it from a front wheel drive 4 cylinder, to a rear wheel drive V8. You have to give them some credit fitting all that crap in there.

The RS8 or the ZX3 body in general? No point in arguing aesthetics but with the move towards the hatchbacks and wagons (I could name a bazillion). I think the slope in the back on the zx3s is great. The perfect compromise between backseat head room/trunk space and aerodynamics/curveyness. As for the RS in general, I guess it's sort of a niche car but I think it's awsome. The fender flares allowing for flush 18X8" rims. The front fasica, the euro headlights. Handling that will own a WRX. But I agree 40K for that RS8 is way too much. I'd rather have an elise at that point. Turboing a focus to 11s is a much better way to go. Upgrade the suspension and you'd have a really nice car for around 20K. Upgrade the interrior bring that to around 25k.

There's actually alot of people doing this. It's no coincidence the focus bay accommodates a V8 engine with no shoe horn and crash materials intact.

I like how they converted it to RWD. Definitely thumbs up to that.
