Air Travel Tips

So I got a tip today on how to get in to first class seating. pretty much just wait for the last call. at that point everyone is asituated. just go in and sit down in an empty 1st class seat like you belong there.

any other tips?

I havent been on a flight in months that wasnt completely full in first class. Even when there are open seats, they usually offer the upgrade to passengers waiting in the terminal for a nominal fee.

Now on a intercontinental flight, I'm going to assume this is different. More first class seats available on the planes, fewer travelers, etc. etc.

It won't work. The stewerdesses have lists of people who belong there. In the back they don't care but in first class you will get bounces. Trust me on this one.

Yeah.. I fly twice a week, and I haven't seen an empty seat in months. Usually there is a list of frequent flyers that have requested upgrades, or if its United, they upgrade their Premier flyers into empty first class seats when they board.

One recommendation I have is checking out www.seatguru.com before getting your seat assignments.

Thanks for the website. Just found out I had the worst seats on the plane for my next flight. Changed those as quick as I could.

I think i've sat in every seat between Rows 15-17 A&B on the 744s.

BTW, check out the new United Premium Transcon service.

Better yet wear sandals so you don't have to take off your shoes at security checkpoint or on the plane.

I like sitting near the back of the plane.

Even though you have to get on a little earlier, and you get off a little later, you generally can get an overhead bin directly above or just in front of you.

I always have my laptop and bag, and I don't check luggage for short trips, so storage space is a big priority for me. I'm too big and my legs are too long to put anything on the floor in front of me.

If your flight's not full, sitting towards the back also increases your chances of not having to sit next to somebody.

I have my laptop set to stay on when the screen's closed. It kills the LCD to save the battery. On flights longer than an hour or so I fire it up, put my headphones on and play mp3s. I close the laptop once the player's going and slip it sideways into the seat pocket in front of me. Then, I read a book and listen to tunes.

I never watch movies or try to get any actual work done with the laptop - tried and it didn't work - there just isn't enough space to type on it or even leave it open in front of me in most coach seats. Plus, the laptop itself (Dell D800 widescreen) is kinda big...

Last time I flew (frm Aruba to the US) they made me remove sandals.

That's because nobody else wants to sit that close to the toilets!

It also increases your chances of not getting noticed when you join the mile-high club. Not that I would know anything about that.

When I used to visit Hong Kong every year I would be walking around the plane in my pajamas. Of course if I did that now, I would be tasered, shot, drugged or beaten.

You need one of the airline adapters. Approx cost will be 40-100 bucks for a set of that.

I don'tthink so, according to the oregonian, "Middle-section seats in rows 10 through 23 come with 110-volt poweroutlets." I'm in those seats, so I should be getting an outlet. if not, i still have 2 batteries anyways. enough for fun and play.
