Car magazine reviews Mitsubishi Lancer EVO MR VFQ400

0-60 = 3.6seconds
0-100 = 9seconds
top speed = 175mph

Some modifications over the MR340 are:

Owen Developments manifold/elbow
GT30BB Turbo
Omega Pistons and Arrow Rods
ARP Studs
Motec ECU
Uprated Clutch and Flywheel (thank god!!! )
6 Pot Alcons.
and other bits and bobs including head gasket, fuel pump, injectors, etc...

400bhp is a pessimistic figure I think

All warranted and factory backed too.

Quotes from the mag:

'The FQ400 was born out of Mitsubishi's desire to celebrate 30 years since the first lancer was sold in the UK'

'400bhp, that's the relatively easy bit. The hard bit was that it had to be a car that could be serviced at any ralliart dealer, that would carry a 3-year, 36,000mile warranty'

'Until now, the Zonda was simply the fastest way to get from point to point, with huge power, good traction and damping well suited to the UK's moonscape roads. Strangely for a car of it's value and width the Zonda is very easy to drive. It's performance is accessible in a way unimaginable in supercars of a decade ago. Yet despite all the drama, the noise, show and glamour, it's not the quickest car here.'

'This Evo will crack 62mph in 3.6seconds. To witness this feat is awesome: the front tyres light up as the active diffs struggle, the rears leave a trail of rubber behind them. The tailpipe sounds like a jet exhaust.'

'I have never gone point to point so quickly in any machine without a Boeing sticker on the side'

'The FQ400 is hugely rapid, not only in a straight line but also around corners, along poorly surfaced roads, over awkward cambers, everywhere. If you want quicker acceleration than that, you need something from the more powerful end of the two-wheeled spectrum, and even then it would be too close to call'

'This is a supercar slayer without the need for any explanation or excuse. No ifs, no buts. Point to point it's much, MUCH faster than any supercar.'

'You hit the brakes and just about headbutt the windscreen'

Anyone have any pics, the article, or know which magazine did the review?

I'd like to see someone try to get mitsubishi to honor their warranty.

EVO owners are getting P.O'd at Mitsu.

That's Car magazine (UK). This is a UK only model, and there's been no warranty issues over on that side of the pond.

Motor Trend just did a EVO MR (US Spec) vs. a '05 WRX STi with a sidebar on the MR VFQ and the Euro spec STi WR1. Very good reading.
