10:00 / 2:00

I don't know if they still teach this or not, but I remember when I was learning to drive, 10:00 and 2:00 was this standard for where your hands should be on the steering wheel when you drive.

I realized the other day that I seldom ever actually drive like this. I'm wondering how most people out there drive normally.

If I'm on city streets I usually have my left hand at either 12:00 or 6:00 and my other hand shifts.

On the freeway, usually either my right at 5:00 or my left at 7:00...maybe both.

Once in a great while I'll grip the steering wheel with the 10/2 or 9/3 or something like that - but it's usually on a canyon run or something similar.

I drive with my right hand on 5:00 and left arm out the window in an automatic

Left hand on 11 and right on the shifter for manual

10 and 2 only when taking sharp curves at slightly higher than posted speeds

I keep them at 10 and 2. The way my steering weel is designed makes this pretty comfortable locations to rest my hands.

I used to drive using 10 & 2 when I first started driving with my Cavalier which didn't have airbags, but since then I've only driven cars with airbags and have kept my hands at the 3 & 10 when driving at decent speeds, but if I'm stuck in traffic, right hand is on six the left arm is hanging out the window or resting on the rest.

9:3. I have a nifty T in the middle, so I can rest my thumbs on the sides.

It helps that my audio control is at 9 and the cruise control is at 3.

i always drive with left hand on about 1 or 2 o'clock. i drive about 1hr to and from school so i'm always just in that one position, so my steering wheel is all worn down in that one spot

yeah. but with the airbags, i figure 7 and 5 are good because your arms are already bent to accomodate for an airbag.
