Cheap GTO!
I am putting this here rather than in "Deals" because it is limited to GM employees. I still found it interesting.
So I am working in Flint, MI this week and next. I pick up a local paper in the hotel lobby and see this. This dealer (Joseph Pontiac) is in Fenton, MI: 2004 GTO, six-speed or automatic, 24 month lease, no down payment ($535 tax and state fees due at lease signing), $188/mo. for the first twelve months, $238/mo. for the second twelve. The print ad says you also must buy the GMPP extended warranty as well, though this is not mentioned on the website. The print ad also says that they have 15 available. Guess the GMPP warranty is the only profit for the dealer, since the factory warranty is 3/36 which makes the extended useless on a two-year/24K lease. Say what you will about the GTO, but that's crazy cheap! I'd do one in a minute if I were eligible.

You sure that's not for a PEP car (employee driven)? If not, that's crazy cheap... if I was in the market I'd be all over that.
But yeah, why in the hell would you buy an extended warranty on a 24 month lease? You're still under mfr warranty for the entire term... sounds a little shady. |

Even if it was a PEP car with 12,000 miles it'd still be worth a look - crazy cheap, no long-term commitment, and still under 3/36 warranty. How could the guy manage to get 15 PEP cars, though? The ad said (print ad) that there were 15 to choose from. Like I said, the GMPP extended warranty is probably the only profit for the dealer. Plus, it's transfererable so it could be looked at as raising the residual or resale value at the end of the lease. Both of those statements are pure speculation on my part, though... Quote:
Not much, but I live in Alabama. Remember the old agage about people in glass houses? I work for a vendor to GM Service Parts Operations. GMSPO World HQ is here. |
