help with a 1998 toyota camry

Hello all. Long time poster, first time I think in the automotive forum. I was wondering if you guys could lend me some of your expertise. A friend of mine has a 1998 toyota camry and she said that recently the pwr light on her dashboard has lit up and she has no idea what it is. I was wondering if anybody here knew what it was and if it should be on or off and if off how to turn it off. Thanks.

why not just take it to the dealership. Could it be that the switch underneath the shifter is off? There's usually a power switch under there for extra umph from the engine.

This actually changes the shift programming for the automatic trans. BS is right, I think your friend bumped the button on the console. That'd be the first thing to check.

that extra umph would be the car holding the gears up to redline before shifting...but if she doesn't drive the car hard I doubt she would notice beside the pwr light.
