So I'm going to be buying my girlfriend's car. She has offered to let me jump on her policy, if it I pay the difference. We both talked to the Agent today, he took my information, and said he would call back later today.

*fast forward to later today*

The agent calls her back, and says for me to join her policy it will be $850. To get my own policy, $1100.

The reasoning is over 3 years ago, I had my license suspended for not paying the fine for a driving without insurance ticket, and that's what's making it so high. Do I just have to bend over and take it, or is there something I can do?

The insurance is through Mercury.
The car is a 1997 Honda Accord
Pricing is in the Torrance area (which I'm sure accounts for a nice bit o' change)
