Fast times at Deal's Gap:

Coming in hot! - (he hasn't realized he's screwed the pooch just yet...)

Going, going...

Gone!

THAT'S gonna leave a mark...

I've done that on my bike (bicycle). It seem as if you're sliding forever.

I bet that right about the time he hit he realized he should have worn real safety gear instead of trying to look cool.

I have a friend who rides those big motorcycles. Every time he gets ready to ride he puts on what looks like a full set of armor (the jacket definately was armored, backbrace and all). He even had a helmet he paid $500 for. I ased him why he paid so much. He said that you get what you pay for and his body was worth it.

If you have a $30 head, buy a $30 helmet.

Wow! That killboy site is pretty cool. Makes me want to go driving (and my car isn't even that nice). Still... looks like fun! I didn't find those particular shots posted above, but there's plenty more good stuff. The interesting thing ab those shots, even though it shows people really pushing their bikes to the limits (well... looks like it to me), it somehow shows both the good and the bad sides of doing so. Very cool...no glamorizing (sp?) ala Fast & Furious junk. Good stuff!! Also had some cool photography tips.

And speaking of helmets, i think it'd be hilarious to buy a driving helmet and just cruise around town w/the thing on. You could complete the look w/a driving suit and gloves too...

He is "waving" at the photographer.

lol, at the $30 comment.

I don't know too much about bikes.... in the second pic, is his front wheel locked up? (lifted off the ground already?)

i thought countersteering is used for when you go in too hot? (or just want to show off)...cuz there's no way even he can tip that bike the way he wants it =P

Yup, he's "tripodded" - most all the weight is on the point where the bike's grinding against the pavement at that instant. The front wheel's touching lightly but he's also paniced and grabbed a handful of front brake.

Think there's some pucker factor there in the second pic? (the rider's just come to the realization that the immediate future wasn't looking just real bright...)

I bet at the instant that second photo was taken you couldn't have driven an extra-fine sewing needle up his backside with a ten-pound sledge.

You countersteer **lightly** anytime you begin to corner. You countersteer more when sliding the rear, as in on dirt - steer into the skid, just as if you were in a rear-wheel drive car.
