So I tried to buy a new Ford this weekend...

D@mn d@mn d@mn. I own a Ford truck I absolutely love, http://www.myfishingpictures.com/wat...37DSC00122.JPG but I thought the day had come to give her up. I am up to 44k miles and, well, I haven't owned a truck for more than two years in ten. I only kept this one three because I really really like it. Well, it looks like I am gonna live with it a little longer. I test drove the new F150 STX and well... bleh. The bed was too tall, the handling basically sucked (tires being reduced to 235/75s from 275/70s didn't help much i imagine) and it had no guts. Oh, and the dash looked like a car. If I wanted a car, I would buy a new Mustang. I own a truck. I left disapointed. So, I guess I have to read my owners manual and figure out how I am going to love this truck for the long haul.

Welcome to the fold... eventually you'll hate them enough to be done with them as they continue changing the things you like about the product and giving you stuff that they like but you don't care about instead.

"You can have it in any color you want... as long as that color is Black".

I think Ford has improved since Bill Ford came on board to run the place. It's too bad the truck disappointed you. The good news is that Ford trucks run forever, so it should keep you going until a new truck comes around that you like.

This is a good thing. It sounds like in the past you kept the truck just long enough to get the maximum hosing from depreciation.

Nah, I had red carpet leases. Out of one into the next. It was sweet- payments never changed. They dropped the program when too many of us realized what a good deal it was (my theory). So, I bought this one instead of leasing it.

I don't understand why you would want to get rid of it if you love it? 44k certainly isn't the end of it's life.

I own a Ford E-350 van. I love it. I often comment to friends how I would love to find a car that is built as well as my van. I've owned it for 8 years and I'm not getting rid of it anytime soon. Why would I? I'd simply end up buying another one just like it.

That truck probably lost 40% of it's value in the past two years. You've already taken the biggest butt-kicking in depreciation. Now keep the truck and enjoy it.

I think you're right, WP, I am going to have to re-adjust my thinking. I love it, why not just drive the damn thing?! PS - not a bad looking truck either, eh?
