So, in Dark Souls, you are sort of connected to everyone else online. One of the benefits of that is that players can leave each other messages. Mostly they are helpful ones like "Try Backstab" when you come up to a knight whose back is turned or "Warning Left" when someone is hiding on the left side.
Sometimes you get messages like "I Did It!" after a particularly hard area.
But sometimes, sometimes they screw with you. My favorite are the "Try Jumping Here" which is usually placed next to a cliff, so that if you truly follow the message, you fall to your death. Though sometimes, it's actually a useful thing to do.
Anyway, I find it kind of nice. I wish more games had that. It feels like there is this silent group out there, supporting you as you play along.
