Sweet tooth and what to do about it.

I have an insatiable sweet tooth. All I want is cookies, Reese cups, M&M's, and anything sweet. I don't know what to do about it. I want it from the time I wake up till i go to bed. Is there anything that can help me or am I am lost cause. I try not to keep it in the house but that makes it worse. When I can get it I go absolutely over board with it. I just don't know how to make it stop. Please HELP.

willpower dear...willpower.
back in the day when I had a ton of weight to get rid of I used to make the good old weight watcher special
Grape nuts cereal(dry), one small banana, and one package of sugar free instant cocoa mix..
mix the banana till smooth, then add the cocoa mix and stir well..then add in the grape nuts..and mix well..then place a piece of saran wrap over a cookie sheet-place the mixture on it and cover with another piece of saran wrap..spread out between the plastic wrap sheets using your hand..then FREEZE. once it's frozen you can eat it like a candy bar (I broke mine up into bite sized pieces and it lasted a LONG time)..it was tasty..just like a krackle bar..mmmm..and healthy too! ps..it's good for kids AND make sure when not eating, keep it frozen so the banana doesn't go bad..it's SWEET, CHOCOLATELY AND TASTY..you'll love it..
and before you get all negative about it saying you don't like grape nuts, or bananas or sugar free hot cocoa please try it. IT'S WORTH IT as it will curb your sweet tooth and and you don't taste anything but the chocolate. (you can even add flavorings like vanilla, almond etc when mixing for a different taste)..and if you want..add a teaspoon of peanut butter to the mix before freezing too.

I have a pretty miserable sweet tooth myself. What I do is I drink a pretty decent amount of diet soda (initially it tastes a little weird but once you get used to it it actually tastes pretty good) which can mellow down my sweet tooth a little. I know the soda isn't good for me either but not much that I do is actually good for me.

I just try to not keep it in the house. And keep other things instead. I keep fruits and bananas and other things.

Also, if you absolutely must have some sugar, measure it out in advance. Take a bag of reeses pieces and baggy up just a few and then make that your serving of sweets for the day.

That way in time you'll just eat less and less and then work your way to only a few days a week, and then it will be a special treat.

I only get a sweet tooth after I drink so I cut the drinking to nearly nil. Well, because of that and lately it just makes me feel crappy the next day.

I don't drink pop at all. I can't really stand it anymore. I don't drink so that is not causing the issue I haven't been able to drink at all since I turned 20. I have either been preggo or nursing non stop for the last almost 6 years of my life.

It is really weird if I am hungry I want something sweet. Nothing else sounds good although last night eating 2 dippy eggs with toast seemed to kill it. But that is not that good for me either.

I will admit i haven't been all that much on craving it today for some reason. Maybe those dippy eggs were enough of a treat to make me feel better who knows. I am thinking this all is something that is a learned behavior from my childhood. I know the hording is. I am really resposible when I have someone around all the time but I am a glutton when the keeper is not watching.

I have an awful sweet tooth too, but it doesn't torture me nearly as much as it used to. The first thing I did was to read "Sugar Blues." It informed me what all that sugar could be doing to me. Next I cut out all added sugar, cold turkey. I didn't even eat ketchup. I think it was for about two months, but the length wasn't my goal. It was easier than reducing my sugar because I didn't have to make choices anymore. I started to believe that fruit can be a dessert. After that it was easier for me to go some days with no dessert and most days with a small dessert. (Although I still go overboard occasionally.) If I can make peace with my sweet tooth, anyone can.
