Wierdest foodie question yet..

Today I was at lunch with some friends and they got on the topic of a question put to their husbands last year at a bbq..the question was..and said with a straight face.."do you eat your hotdog from the side or from the end?"..
Now when you think about it, it's a pretty simple question right? But ask that to an entire group of guys and you should see the looks they gave each other..NONE of them answered that they ate their dogs from the ends!
and for the rest of the night they all stuck to hamburgers..
Next time you're with a group of your male pals..ask them that question and see what response you'll get!...It's pretty funny.

I can't visualize how one would eat a hotdog from the side.

i assume it is because they think of a hotdog as some sort of phallic symbol, thus not wanting to seem "gay", they say they eat it from the middle? i suppose to confirm this belief, you should ask the same people how they eat a banana. from the end or the middle. shrug.

i've always assumed that the hotdog was made to be eaten from the ends and not the....middle? thats how i eat it...from the ends.

My mom always breaks her bananas into pieces when she eats one. She told me it's because when she was younger, her parents told her only "street women" eat bananas whole.

This is the same thing I heard as a little girl. Well, "A lady does not eat a banana in that manner." In fact this is the first time I've come across someone else who heard the same thing!
As it turns out I guess I am not a lady because the only time I break apart a banana is to put it in cereal.

Everyone knows the proper way to eat a banana is to completely peel it, put one end in your mouth, and then go hands free. Try it some time. It's quite hard to eat without biting off and dropping the rest of it. Some people (others, not me

) used to have "no hands banana eating races" in the cafeteria in college. Quite entertaining to watch.

I think people could eat hotdogs sideways like they put the hotdog in through the side of their mouth and then bite? As opposed to through the front? I can't imagine bitting a hotdog in the middle and breaking it in half. That would be funky....
Who knows. I eat mine straight on.

like today when i had a coney island style hot dog for lunch .with mustard,chop onion ,chili on it i use a knife and fork to eat it. but if it just a hot dog with mustard ,ketchup,chop onion and or pickle relish. i eat those straight on.

Holy Guacamole, you guys have got me thinking about hitting
Weinerschneitzel for some Chili dogs with onions. They give me such indigestion but sometimes I just cant help myself.

These uptight people, what do they do with an ice cream cone... dump it in a dish and eat with a spoon, rather than lick it?

I do like all different types of links though. If they are smothered with anything it's knife and fork. In a bun, from the ends.
