HOT! Buy.com - HP Laserjet 1018 Printer for $20.99 after Rebate, Shipped Free!!!

HOLY MOLY! Wow, you just don't see this kind of pricing on a HP Laserjet! Buy.com has it for $85.99 with free shipping. Use the $65 mail-in rebate and it's just $20.99! It's a USB 2.0 interface with a 12 ppm output. This is an awesome low volume printer that's perfect for the home office or for students!

Thumbs down *** Does Not Qualify For Rebate ***

*** DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR REBATE ***

The deal sounded too good, so I called HP at the number on the rebate form. They told me that this printer, purchased from Buy.com, does not qualify for rebate.

Proceed with caution.

Exclamation Will the rebate be honored by HP?

Thanks for the great find, but has anyone verified that HP will stand behind the $65 rebate? Many disappointed buyers were told by HP a few months back that if the original purchase price wasn't at least $129, the rebate didn't meet their guidelines because of "special pricing," or something similar to that. Those buyers complained of a rebate form that sounds very much like the one linked to the Deals page. The advice that was encouraged for all potential buyers to follow was to call HP prior to purchase and ask for approval. If verbally approved by HP, do your best to document the call.

Has anyone made this call to HP yet? If so, please post their response below.

I hope it works for all who purchase. I will definitely buy, if I can get it for approx. $20. Great light use printer from my experience.

Hopefully we can protect GotApex'ers from being angry after it's too late to return or cancel their orders.

I also called the phone number listed on the form, and after placing me on hold several times, the rep told me I could get the rebate. I specifically asked about purchasing it from Buy.com for $85.99. Still not sure I'm comfortable enough to purchase it though.

Not Valid

HP says that rebate coupon is not valid purchasing the printer through buy.com for that price. Also see irate comments re: previous listing of this deal on gotapex in the buy.com comments for the item from earlier this year.

UPDATE:

There have been conflicting results from the rebate, but apparently NewEgg is an authorized reseller. Plus, they have it for $79.99 with 3-day shipping.

NewEgg HP 1018 Link

People have been getting their rebates authorized from there, but as usual, you might have to complain.

I called them up and I told them that I bought from Newegg.com and they raised no issues.

They also said that, THERE IS A LIMIT OF 2 PER PERSON FOR THIS. The rebate form does NOT say this, but they said that if you submit more than 2 rebates for this, they will reject the rest (after 2).

HP Rebate...watch out

The form says:

* LJ1018 printers purchased for $79.99 and below are ineligible for this rebate.

Notice that Neweggs price IS $79.99.

This is one to watch out for.

How much money do they kick back to you guys for each of these sold? It's wholly irresponsible to still have this deal up when you haven't verified it - and have in fact had trouble with it in the past.

That's because uniquewon is speaking of a completely separate rebate, which clearly does not work:

http://h71016.www7.hp.com/html/pdfs/LJ1018Claim.pdf

That's the rebate that is ineligible and that people are getting rejected.

For the rebate that we posted, it's eligible, and it's been verified by HP representatives:

http://hpshopping.speedera.net/www.s...bts07_7-29.pdf

Feel free to call HP's rebate center directly.

888-385-5410

Be sure to specify rebate offer S104, which is the correct one AS WE LISTED.

If you'd like, post which representatives you've spoken to that have said the rebates are eligible. We can start a list. Please include the HP representative's CSR number and name.

CSR #3440: Paul
CSR #53324: Kevin
CSR #54554: Daniel

Now, if despite the fact that the fine print does not exclude the Newegg purchase in any way, and despite the fact that CSR's from HP's rebate department have stated that this specific rebate is eligible at this price from this company, you don't feel comfortable, I'd suggest you do not buy this. I don't think Leon was in any way forcing anyone to purchase (though you never know with him, sly little bugger).

Is it possible the rebate will be rejected? Yes, of course. Rebates are sometimes rejected for reasons never listed on the rebate form (or anywhere else for that matter). However, I think that with the fine print of this one, and the list of CSR's, there's a pretty solid recourse here.

Newegg still has it at $79.95

Newegg has it at $79.95 + 10 shipping.

My CSR at HP said it's a go on offer S104.
