Are these movies ok for Josh?

Ok, so unrelated to my date night (see Softer Side), I need to know about:

Fantastic Four
Batman Begins

Are either of those ok for Josh to watch? I haven't seen either of them but he's been begging me to let him watch FF.

He's 8 1/2...

TIA!

On Movies OnDemand they have Fantastic Four and then Fantastic Four family version which would I guess imply the regular one is not family friendly. I haven't seen it so I can't really say.

Batman Begins is kind of dark and obviously has some ass-kicking (violence) but I can't remember anything too bad.

My 6 year old son and 9 year daughter liked F4, but were bored with Batman Begins.

i'd agree. there's a lot of dark imagery in batman begins, and depending on how jumpy josh is, there might be a couple of scenes that might be a little bit freaky to him. otherwise, like has been mentioned, it might even be a bit too slow and a little less colorful than he might like it to be.

fantastic four is totally fine, i'd think, as long as you don't mind some implied nudity with the invisble girl and whatnot.

ok, so am vetoing Batman for now and will ok FF. and pshaw about the implied nudity. He sees commercials for bras & panties on tv a lot. you don't miss seeing much there, so.... heh

thx all

Yeah, that's why I figured I'd ask. Not so much worried about the violence, cause he's seen that much before, but more about whether it's scary or a lot of nudity/sex, etc.

I would say yes to both, if you can get your hands on one of them family versions. The "family" versions will pretty much be what you can find on cable or on an airplane. Batman Begins and Fantastic Four made it to the airlines just fine.

FF4 yes, Batman no.

FF violence is pretty cartoony. I wouldn't worry about the 'family' versions.

I'd agree with everyone. There wasn't anythiing terrible in Batman, and I loved the flic, but it is long and likely boring. He'd appreciate it more in a year or two. Then again, he might like it a lot. It has a very good storyline, good acting by the main characters, including Liam Neason, and has a very anti-crime and restrained-revenge message. THe main problems are that it is kind of dark, sad in a few parts, and very, very long.

FF should be fine. As someone pointed out, it may have scenes that are hard to understand, but probably not. It was a surprisingly good movie. I don't remember the "implied nudity" being much at all, except when a character is naked and INVISIBLE.

H <---saw Batman Returns twice in the theater, and the second time, when he walked out of the theater, noticed 2 bats flying around the parking lot. I've never seen bats in NOLA before. It was pretty cool. And I haven't seen any since.

My 6 year old son watched both of those movies... and suffered no "ill effects".

I'd say that they are fine for him.

I watched Batman Begins and FF .. And I have been traumatized ever since. It really bothered me to see some of the stuff they had in those seemingly family flicks. I'm 25 years old too. (But I was 24 at the time so I may have just been to young)

Batman Begins isn't appropriate, I'd substitute that with Fight Club

For an eight year old?

Maybe I'm missing the "invisible sarcasm tags" here...
