Clerks II

As an avid Clerks/Kevin Smith fan, I was a little worried when I heard that Clerks II was coming out. Based on the commercials that I saw it wasn't looking too promising, and I hoped that movie wasn't a short-sighted easy money making film made to exploit Clerks fans out there. I went to see it hoping for the best and expecting the worst. What I ended up with was something much much better than I expected, and pretty much all that I could have hoped for. The movie was full of intelligent and offensive adult humor. The characters from the first movie were given dialog worthy of their initial incarnation, and a few new characters were introduced that fit right in to the regular cast of the first Clerks movie. I enjoyed it enough that I saw it for a second time tonight. In another thread here someone said it wasn't his best flick ever. That may be true. But for many Clerks fans out there, this was a perfect sequel. For those of you who are wondering if you shouldn't see Clerks because it might be lame, I would suggest you go and see it. It is a smart and funny flick, with a love story throw into the mix. It is a great flick worthy of watching in the theatre. The crowd reaction makes it a lot of fun.

Although I still don't plan to see this movie in theaters... I still believe that folks need to take reviewer's opinions with a grain of salt. These folks are "self proclaimed" experts on movies, therefore pretty much they can say just about anything and folks may believe them.

On a side note... I still think some folks "think too hard" about movies. Personally, I go to the movies to "let go, and relax" and just enjoy the show. Pretty much you'd have to make one STINKER of a movie for me to not like it... and for most of those kind of movies, people would generally agree that they were Really bad movies.

other than that mustachioed dork that stormed out like a wuss, most reviewers actually liked the film.

that of course still means nothing. Films were made to be SEEN, not read thru a review. i hope that other people who read reviews make up their OWN minds.

I thought it was funny. And I never saw the first one.
