Talking mthrfkn SNAKES ON A mthrfkn PLANE!

Did you go see it? didja?? didja??

rottentomatoes.com has mixed reviews as of saturday midnight(62%)

BOXOFFICEMOJO.COM shows the 2 day gross is a little over $7.5M. (as of 8/18).

*its funny to note that these critics that have negative reviews didnt check their brains at the door. really, do you need to THINK to watch a movie like this?

I'm not gonna judge this film on hearsay...

However, the ONLY reason I'm NOT gonna go see it in the theaters is the same reason I don't go see most films in the theaters. They honestly cost too much for the relative value in entertainment. This film is not a big enough "block buster" to me to coax me out of my $8+ to go see it.

Now bring on Spiderman 3... (That one will get my $8 )

i read that it made #1 because they included sales from thursday night's showing. if they didn't include those, it would have been under talladega nights.

thats a trajedy.. that Talladega nights is anywhere in the top 10... i can't believe people dig that over snakes on a plane. Haven't seen it.. will probably go sometime this week.

Or maybe i'll just rent Snakes on a Train.

what people from New Eangland would say : SMAAHT!

no i didnt go - i prefer to wait for it on DVD, and then i can have fun with people around to MAKE fun of the movie more.

maybe i can be persuaded to go, if other people would go with me. That way i now im not the only one wasting my money. Like DF, i would rather stay away from movie theaters more for economic reasons.
which really means if i get to go for free, hell yeah! i will go! the way i see it, theres always a way to lower your IQ points, but its best to do it in a much more FUN way.

This movie may not do well in the theaters but I'll bet good money that it rakes in the dough in rentals and dvd sales.

you might be right, but to me, that's puzzling.

let me preface what i'm about to say by telling you i haven't seen it, nor do i plan to in the near future, if at all:

the way i see it, this is the kind of movie that loses all novelty value once the theater crowds start thinning out. i hate watching movies on opening weekend, because i hate the annoyance of large, packed crowds, and the inevitable smattering of a**holes, teenagers, and idiots. however, this is the kind of movie you pretty much HAVE to watch in the theaters, because it's not the movie itself that's good, it's the whole experience.

it's kinda like this little independent theater we have in santa monica that has weekly midnight showings of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, as well as re-screenings of movies like The Goonies and Army of Darkness. it's fun to watch them with crowds because everyone's really really into it.

but once the majority of the hype machine's effects have dwindled, the crowds watching SOAP won't be as big or lively, and then it'll just be a bad movie with a simple plot and little redeeming value outside opening weekend. i mean, are you really gonna rent this and watch it at home with your honey, or even with a few friends? it's not gonna be anywhere near as "good."

so, i say, if you don't watch this movie in the theaters within these first couple of weeks, you've pretty much missed out on your chance to watch it as it was meant to be watched.

unless, a few years down the line, little independent theaters like the one i mentioned start re-screening them. or unless, of course, you're high...

eh, just my $0.02....

Well, I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later (link):

Rattlers freed in "Snakes on a Plane" theater prank

Aug 23, 8:01 AM (ET)

PHOENIX (Reuters) - Life imitating art is all very well. Unless, that is, it's a movie about deadly snakes on the rampage.

Movie chain AMC Entertainment Inc. said pranksters at one of its Phoenix theaters released two live diamondback rattlesnakes during a showing of the film "Snakes on a Plane" last Friday. No one was injured.

AMC spokeswoman Melanie Bell said, "One was found in the parking lot during the show, and the other in the movie theater. They were both removed, and no one was harmed."

The snakes were later released in the desert.

Bell had no further details.

The movie stars Samuel L. Jackson, and spins a yarn about a crate-load of escaped snakes that run amok on an airline flight, attacking passengers and crew.

"There were kids at the show, and it was actually very reckless," Russ Johnson, the president of the Phoenix Herpetological Society told Reuters.

"The snakes' bite carries a powerful venom that could have seriously injured someone," he added.
Pulling off the prank is one thing, but why did the idiots decide to use rattlers?

i actually heard about this on the radio.

apparently, it's false. if i remember it correctly, the actual police who were dispatched to take care of the situation said that there was only one snake, which hadn't even made it inside the premises of the theater; it was lurking around just outside the place.

and being that it was in Arizona, it's not uncommon for rattlers to lurk in random places. so, contrary to what the spokesperson said to reuters, this wasn't the result of a prank. it was just a snake hangin outside a movie theater that made for some coincidental news fodder.

so i hear, anyway...
