The Final Basketball Score is....201-78?!?!

This is crazy. Can't believe this game was allowed to continue.
Quote:

Several NCAA Division III records were broken on Saturday when Lincoln University of Pennsylvania routed Ohio State-Marion, 201-78 in Salem, W.Va.

The Lions, ranked No. 11 in the country, set Division III records for most points in a men's basketball game and most points in a half (104 in the second).
Senior guard Sam Wylie set a Division 3 record by hitting 21 three-pointers. He finished the game with a school record 69 points. Troy Briggs scored 31 and seven players finished in double figures.

Lincoln shot 79-for-141 from the field.

Lincoln's total topped the Division III mark set in January 2005 by the University of Redlands, which scored 172 points against La Sierra College. Wylie's 21 3s beat Jeff Clement's 19 3-pointers for Division III Grinnell against Illinois College on Feb. 18, 1998.

Division II Troy has the all-time NCAA record with 258 points against DeVry, Ga., on Jan. 12, 1992.

The margin of victory for Lincoln also was an NCAA record.

Ohio State-Marion is a non-NCAA school that competes in the Ohio Regional Campus Conference.

I haven't watched college basketball in a while (maybe because we had a crummy team except for Chaucey Billups now of the NBA) but don't they play 20 minute halves? That would mean that the Lions (141 shots taken) alone would have shot every seventeen seconds. And that does not count the other team having the ball. That is a lot of shooting! Apparently this is only the fourth year that Ohio State Marion has had a basketball team and only had six players in uniform. Pennsylvania used all sixteen of their players. Wylie got his 69 points in just 24 minutes.

Wow... Twenty-one three's? I know this is Div. 3, but that's still crazy. Scouts are out tonight, I'm sure.

Nah. My guess is that most of those were barely contested. NBA guys make their money for being able to hit a shot with a hand in their face.

As for the score...shameless. That's ok, though. Karma will bite them in the ass when they play a real team and get throttled.

Found a box score. http://www.d3hoops.com/releases.php?...558&scoreboard Lincoln was 79 of 141 from the field, and 15- 19 at the foul line. Marion was 29 of 75 from the field and 10 of 16 with free throws. If I read it right, there were 31 people watching the game. (A=31). Clock stops for fouls so total 216 shots taken- 10.8 a minute or tossing a ball at the basket every 5.5 seconds. Probably not much dribbling going on. From three point range, Marion was 10- 31 and Lincoln popped 28- 60. 11th ranked Lincoln also had 45 steals and out rebounded them 41- 75.
Team Picture: http://www.marion.ohio-state.edu/Cam...ballroster.htm

No. Position Name High School Rank
3 F Dan McAndrew Marion Catholic Sophomore
5 F Byrce Moore Robinsdale Armstrong (MN) Sophomore
10 F Troy Briggs Cardington Freshman
15 G Kyle Teynor Bucyrus Freshman
21 G Joe Clime Bucyrus Senior
24 F Justin Lauthers Bucyrus Sophomore
31 F Bryant Sisler Cardington Freshman
34 C Joe Miller Highland Sophomore
40 C Andrew Haas River Valley Junior
50 F Zach Agee Bucyrus

Three of the players show up in the box score, Biggs, Teynor, and Sisler. Looks like Sisler's brother Mark played along with two others and his dad may be the coach- also a Mark Sisler http://www.marion.ohio-state.edu/Cam...Ball/coach.htm . Must have been a scramble just to get enough players. The school only has 1485 students- my high school was bigger (2000 students for a three year school). Looks like nobody was older than a Sophomore.
