What about Merriman?
I know there are alot of Charger fans here, want to hear your thoughts on this. I think Merriman is the premier defensive player in the league right now, but he only got 12% of the vote. Obvious reasons why... Who should have won it? I think it should have been Champ. An absolute difference maker who doesn't all get the highlight reel stuff (sacks, big hits), but is THE MAN. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2721073

Taylor was asked to step up into a new role this year, and flew with it. he became an all around player, and showed the league what a multipurpose type guy can do.
Champ would be a great pick too, as he was always matched up with the best wr's.

I don't see how you can give a defensive player of the year award to someone who was suspended for steroid use.
I think it's baloney he's in the Pro Bowl. |

Merriman's play after his 4 games gone, to me, only prove even more that he is innocent of INTENTIONALLY taking steriods. He has been just as awesome after as before. And to show he is a class act, he has taken all the bullsh*t comments in stride and not shot off his mouth. He will be back next year still going strong w/o the roids. That should shut up alot of people.

I'm a chargers fan, but anybody who breaks the substance abuse policy should be disqualified from all end of season awards. my 2 cents.
