Bride Cried When She Found Out Game Was Same Day

Poor Bride. I cry too If my guest were cancelling for a game

NEW ORLEANS -- Tara Chauffe understands she'll have some competition on her wedding day.

She's getting married in New Orleans Saturday evening, the same time the Saints will be playing the Philadelphia Eagles in the Louisiana Superdome.

"I cried all last Sunday," said Chauffe, 26, recalling her reaction when she learned that football would conflict with her real life. "And I feel really, really bad for the people who already bought playoff tickets who have to be" at the wedding.

Chauffe said she's already had a dozen guests who've canceled because of the playoff game. She knows they have tickets and she's trying to be sympathetic. But two bridesmaids and a groomsman who paid $600 for his seats for the game are giving them up to attend the wedding.

Chauffe and husband-to-be Corey Boland said they'll probably have a TV at the reception, so guests can track the Saints' fortunes. But they'll turn the sound down so there won't be any cheering interrupting their first dance.

"That would be nice for the guests, but we don't want to hear yelling in the background while we're having our first dance," Chauffe said. "Maybe we can turn it on after the first couple dances."

My wife wanted to get married on a Sunday during a 'Boys game. Umm, idea got nixed.

I'll bet she wasn't banking on the Saints to make this deep into the season. No one really was...

My wife and I scheduled our wedding for the summer so there wasn't any chance of it conflicting with a VT game. I cringe every time I hear a fellow Hokie making wedding plans for a fall Saturday.

I've been to a couple weddings that fall right in the middle of the world series. (Yes, the cardinals were playing in one of them.)

It's no big deal. The DJ announces the scores in between songs and people jump in and out of the reception to check the stats at the hotel bar.

Sounds like someone's being a little over-dramatic. If you have guests cancel out of your wedding (planned hopefully months ago) for a game that was announced a few weeks ago, then you probably don't need friends like that to begin with.

some people need to grow up and there's life going on outside the world of someone else's sporting event.
