Looking at that short list, I can say I truly despise the first three. Nancy Pelosi doesn't belong on that list for me. Barbara Streisand is far more deserving, in my honest opinion.

I hate to say that I despise anyone, but...

I despise Paris Hilton. I think of her as walking porn. Not that she's hot or that I think she's even that much of a sex symbol, I just look at her and wonder what redeeming value she has.

I despise Rosie O'Donnell. I see where she believes in her heart that she's right, but to believe the nutcase assertion that the government orchestrated 9/11? To seek sympathy for herself and complain that people don't see her as a human, while likewise dehumanizing her political opponents. She may move off this list, but then she'd be back on this list again. Back and forth she goes, continuously crossing the line between respectability and nuttiness.

Hillary? There are times I've felt that hated her, yes. Nancy Pelosi? Same thing.
But I do believe that they genuinely believe they're doing the right thing, and are actively working towards that goal. Disagreement? Yes, certainly. Despise? No.

But that's just me. Sadly, too many conservatives will hate the latter three, and be willing to put up with the first. Too many liberals will celebrate all of the above, while talking behind their backs. Too many young will love the first and dismiss the rest. Too many old will... So on and so forth.

lots of people are guilty of that, and it isn't necessarily conscious. i grew up in a town that had equal parts snobby white folks, country trash white folks, and black folks. i, and most of the friends from my hometown, can fit into any of those "worlds" easily. i find that when i hang out with my friends from kentucky, i slip into a heavy southern accent. when i'm in a job interview, or in a position of teaching children, i go all grammar-snob proper. i can't really say that i ever sound really black, but if you hung out with my husband with the lights out, you'd swear he was black. EG's school friends and teachers have ALL been black, and he sounds a lot blacker at school, a lot whiter at home. etc... not something they probably even think about consciously; it just happens. everybody tries to talk to people in way they will feel most comfortable with, and a talk-show host is naturally going to do this more than the average person.

but, yeah. that's where my forgiving attitude toward tyra ends i'll stop short of "despise," but tyra banks annoys the CRAP out of me. most worthless talk show on tv, as far as i can tell. she generally has nothing interesting to say, i have yet to see a spark of intelligence, and lord, is she inarticulate. every show is either about her, or about women's looks. "we dressed sexy women up as ugly women, and they got treated differently!" "being a model is like, hard, and stuff!" "i was the first black woman on the cover of sports illustrated!" seriously. an entire. freakin. hour. blah blah blah... honestly, the video game walkthroughs on channel G4 are 100x more intellectually stimulating.

This Popular Mechanics blog pretty well debunks her and John Kerry.

I think John Kerry's statements to that effect are the epitome of his idiocy. I don't think his history and background are enough for me to push that into despising, but hers are.

The other thing about her, I should say, is that she's such a rabid anti-gun nut without hearing the possibility of a difference of opinon.
You're right. I wish I didn't despise. I wish I was better than that, and you're right for calling me on that.

But I despise some people. I wish I had more love for people, but some people just shock me too much for me to handle. Paris Hilton's being an effective waste of life is one case. Rosie O'Donnell is another.

I don't watch them anymore. I haven't watched Oprah in years. And I saw Tyra enough to see that she's trying to be Just like Oprah and that is just sad. As far as not understanding where they are coming from...if you ask me, they should BOTH remember where THEY came from and stop being such frauds.

I understand why you don't like Rosie, and you're right she's definitely a blow-hard. She constantly says things that are ridiculous, so I don't blame you for not listening to her. But the link to Kerry that I posted wasn't him agreeing with Rosie, but rather trying to downplay the fact that it was indeed "pulled" when it had sustained too much damage. By him agreeing to this it validates what a lot of people are saying out there, including blow-hards like Rosie, which is that all the information about that day was kept private from the public. The evidence provided by top physicists and scientists say it is impossible for a building like that to fall at freefall speeds unless it was pulled. The Popular Mechanics article does not address a lot of these facts, but rather groups everyone who ask questions as "conspiracy theorists" who are "disgracing the memories of the dead". Rather, a lot of the people who are asking are those who lost loved ones in the tragedy, and or experienced the event first-hand. These people deserve to ask all the questions they want, without being made to feel un-American.

I'd be happy to post information if anyone is interested. I am a rational man and don't buy into conspiracy theories. But after looking at the evidence it is hard to dispute that WTC7 was not a controlled demolition.

First off, there's nobody that I hate . . . not even Osama. Hate is too harsh of a word and it eliminates the idea of rational thought when dealing with them.
