NHL Western/Eastern Conference Playoffs

It's my favorite time of year! And my favorite team is still playing!!

East:
Buffalo VS. Ottawa
GAME 1: SENATORS 5 @ SABRES 2 FINAL - Not too invested in this series. I'd like to see Buffalo win though.

West:
Anaheim VS. Detroit
GAME 1: DUCKS 1 @ RED WINGS 2 FINAL
Obviously, I'd like to see the Ducks come out of this series. I'd really like to see them play Buffalo. But if Detroit wins, I want them to play Ottawa.

So who else here is following the playoffs?

Wow! Never thought I'd read that here.

Honestly though, the Flames didn't deserve to even BE in the playoffs -- they only got in because Colorado ended up losing one game. Sure, it was an important game, but when you have a team who had won 18 of their past 20, it showed determination).

Detroit proved that the Flames were not meant to be there -- they HAMMERED Calgary.

I'm listening to Buffalo-Ottawa game #2 right now. WTF was that penalty on Zubrus near the end of the second period??! Refs just handed Ottawa a 5-on-3 power play and pretty much guaranteed them the goal they scored which gave them the lead. It's effing rigged, the league wants a Canadian team to play for the Cup.

Oh, oh, and Buffalo's early goal was waved off 'cause the puck hit Vanek's hand. Vanek didn't guide or throw the puck into the net with his hand, which is what the rule is intended to prevent. His hand was on his stick and the puck hit the back of his glove. If the puck had hit his stick or any other part of his body it wouldn't be an issue. What a bunch of BS.

Buffalo totally deserved to lose game 1, I won't contest that. But game 2 they've certainly been the better team and are getting screwed by the refs and goal reviews. Ridiculous, effing ridiculous.

I'm tivoing game 2 and behind...but I can't believe that there goal was waved off. It wasn't intentional.

The refs last night were horrible as well. I thought the playoff were suppose to have the "best" referees.

Sorry, my vote's for the Wings too. Let's see if we can pull off the Stanley Cup AND the NBA championship in the same year. Greedy? Sure, but maybe that'll make up for the fact that Detroit will never win a superbowl.

I'd rather yank my fingernails out with pliers than root for the Redwings.

I was glad to see the Ducks get it in OT last night.

I picked a Ducks/Sabres final before the playoffs started and the way Buffalo's been playing the 1st 2 games, they've got me worried.

Looking forward to next season already... picked out my new seats for the Blues games last week.

Buffalo got robbed in game 2. Vanek's 1st goal should've counted and Ottawa never should've had a 5-on-3 to take the lead. Considering those two events, Buffalo should've won 4-2.

They still haven't played to their potential yet in the playoffs. If they do that, they'll win the next four in a row. No doubt at all. C'mon Buffalo, wake up.

Thumbs down Pronger to face disciplinary hearing

The National Hockey League has scheduled a disciplinary hearing for later today with Anaheim Ducks defenceman Chris Pronger.

The fact that a hearing will be held does not guarantee a suspension will be handed out, but it does officially open up that possibility.

Pronger faces the hearing after Detroit forward Tomas Holmstrom was drilled into the boards Tuesday night in the Red Wings' 5-0 victory in Game 3 of the Western Conference Final. Holmstrom was cut after getting hit into the glass by Pronger and Anaheim forward Rob Niedermayer on the play in question.

Niedermayer received a five minute boarding penalty and a game misconduct, but replays showed that that Pronger hit Holmstrom from behind with a high elbow to the head.

"I had two guys on me and fell into the boards," Holmstrom said. "I never saw the guys come from behind."

Holmstrom required stitches in his forehead, but returned to action in the game. He had scored twice in the game before the hit.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was at the game last night and it was BAD. I have NEVER seen the Ducks play as bad as the did last night.
Sounds a lot like Alfredson's hit on Tallinder in Game 3. Head-first into the boards from behind. No penalty called.
I feel your pain, Sabres sucked in game 3 too. Stayin' alive though, they won last night. Three in a row is a lot to hope for, but one can still hope, eh??
Back from the game. It ROCKED! I actually have a good feeling about them going to play in Detroit now! They need to stay out of the damn penalty box though. Unlike the Ducks, the Red Wings can actually score on the PP this round.
I some how knew the sabers were going to win. I should have made a bet with my boyfriend about it.
I can't wait til the wheel comes off the Wings. Jackman comes off the bench to replace the huge hole left by Pronger's absence and finds the back of the net. Nice!
So all the ducks needed to score on the PP was for Pronger to be gone.... I think that's only Jackman's second goal since he was brought over from Florida.
They're terrible. The commentary annoys the hell out of me. There's a game going on and they're talking about things like the NFL draft and other completely irrelevant crap.
OMG! I was so happy...but frustrated....I can't believe how many penalties the Ducks have been taking. And it seems to always be in the 2nd period. And all season long they have played like crap in the 2nd. I don't get it.
And Teemu Selanne is the LAST person you want to see in alone on close range with the puck if your a goaltender.
