Let's vote for Randy Couture!
This list of ESPN's top athletes look a bit off, http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2...whosnow/070611 , I don't see any MMA fighter on the list. Randy Couture should be on the list.imho After coming out of retirement he claimed the heavyweight belt at 43 years of age..AWESOME!!

That is as much a popularity contest as anything else. They have Ronhaldino at #31 and Derek Jeter at #32 and Phil Mickelson and Michelle Wie at #29 and #30, respectively.
Just a piece to stir the pot and promote discussion.

Let's be fair: He beat a crap fighter for the belt. He fought well, sure, but I think there are better fighters out there.

and those better fighters seem to be losing to other crap fighters (*ahem* crocop).
We'll see. But seriously, you can't take anything away from this guy. Silvia and arlovski have been the best ufc heavyweights. and Couture man-handled silvia. Pluse, Couture should be fighting down in light heaviweight, but went up a weight class and beat him up. (and he has the track record of being really tough against other great fighters). seriously gwilks. be fair. don't take anything away from him. |

Randy Couture is a true athlete. His individual performance is amazing, and he does MMA proud. I think it's about time that we pay proper homage to a mixed martial artist.

Well Crocop probably needs to stick to "in ring" PRIDE fighting rather than coming over to the UFC... He learned the hard way that "legal elbows" hurt... and that if you live by the kick to the head, you can die by the kick to the head. ![]() (I saw that PPV fight... and man... he got his @SS handed to him. Sure didn't live up to all the "hype". )

Agree. And for that let us all cast our votes so that the likes of Randy Couture and other top mma athletes will be on the list and also to make the list more believable and not just some popularity contest! |
