Even though Missouri beat Kansas only two weeks ago. If you go by wins, Hawaii, not LSU should be in the BCS Championship since they are the only unbeaten team. The complete Bowl schedule:
http://www.sportsline.com/collegefoo...chedules/bowls My Colorado is happy to be going bowling this year- after only winning two games all of last season.

Congrats Hawaii, but that was a close one up to the very end. Good game.

Any of the other 9 teams playing in BCS bowl games would be undefeated if they played Hawaii's schedule. They deserve to be in a BCS bowl but will be very lucky if they can keep it close against Georgia.

It has been a good year for college football- no one team beating up on everybody. Scheduling does make a difference. We had to play four teams in the BCS top twelve (Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arizona State)- winning one (Oklahoma). We always have a tough schedule.
All the major bowl games should be good ones. |

Supposedly (I havent found the info yet) Missouri ended up "ranked higher" computer wise then Oklahoma. Kind of funny since Oklahoma beat them TWICE. But what does the BCS know. lol.
4. Oklahoma (11-2) 3 2520 .884 3 1331 .887 6T .800 .8600 9 5. Georgia (10-2) 4 2469 .866 4 1277 .851 6T .800 .8400 4 6. Missouri (11-2) 7 2117 .743 7 1104 .736 4 .850 .7800 1 There it is.. the BCS Computer ranks Missouri at #4.. and Oklahoma tied for 6 BEHIND Missouri. Whom they beat twice. OU and MU finished with the same record- maybe it was because Missouri two losses came against Top Ten opponents and OU lost to unranked opponents? Strength of schedule? Missouri would get more SOS points for playing OU than OU gets for the same game since OU is ranked higher.
VIrginia Tech is fifth in most polls but third in BCS. Computer rankings have OU at .80 and MU at .85- whatever the number means. That also has Kansas higher at .81 and Ohio State third behind Virginia Tech and LSU (.96, .95, .91). Again, not really sure what the numbers mean. http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/polls/bcs Quote:
This guy has a strength of schedule list : http://www.gberatings.com/sos/ It has Missouri at #16 and OU at #50. My Colorado at #30 and Hawaii almost at the bottom- #118 out of 120. More information: http://entertainment.howstuffworks.com/question535.htm Missouri beat both Kansas and Illinois who both got better bowl games than they did- and were both ranked lower in the polls. The Illini also had three losses to MUs two. Last edited by zippyjuan : 12-03-2007 at 08:00 PM. |

Missouri lost to OU when Missouri was ranked #1 and Oklahoma #9.. So the second time around, OU Should have gotten a lot more SOS Points..
![]() I understand that Oklahoma lost to unranked teams, but if Oklahoma beats Missouri twice, common sense tells you that Missouri is NOT the better team. Especially after Saturday. But that's what the human polls are for, to try to fix the dumb computers. |

Hawaii didn't have a loss.... they got screwed.... forgot the "weak" conference.... Fresno State and Boise State could give ANY team a run for their money.... and have. I hate the BCS

You mean the stupid human polls where there is a significant conflict of interest? Or is it the human polls that are heavily influenced by how ESPN tells them to vote? The computer polls aren't perfect but I have a hard time believing anyone that thinks USC is the #2 or #3 team in the nation. Missouri also didn't lose to two unranked teams ala OU. ![]() UH had an easy schedule. In their defense, they tried to schedule better teams but most teams will not play them. They also had teams buy out of their contracts the past couple seasons. |

I find it hard to believe that they could give *any* team a run for their money every time they play. On any given day, any given team could win but Fresno and Boise were not top 20 teams this year. Fresno lost 4 games this year and, with the exception of UH, none of those teams are in the top 20, so saying they could give any team a run for their money is an overstatement. |

Right, but again, if Oklahoma BEATS Missouri TWICE.. They are 100% OBVIOUSLY Better. 1 Time, maybe got "lucky", maybe. Two times, they are DEFINITELY the better team. Also I still can't believe Texas Tech doesn't win more games, as they have one of the best Offenses and a decent defense, they have many stars on their team, they just don't win all of their games. But either way, I understand the Ranked teams, unranked teams. But that's the problem with a computer, it doesn't take into account... "You lose twice to the same team, you are not as good as that team." Final. |

The computer doesn't care if you beat another bcs team in the sense that it makes you the "better" team of the two. They care who you beat, and who that team beat. If you beat a bunch of pansies, you don't get much credit. If you lose to pansies, you get railed. Thats why OU losing to little guys hurts them a lot more than Mizzou losing to big guys like OU.
Its like the Yankees, they lose to the Angels, more than any other team in the MLB. But overall, the Yankees pound the rest of MLB harder than the Angels and thus in a computer ranking of the same system, the Yankees would rank higher than the Angels. So it kind of makes sense how the computer works. A few of them do seem like head scratchers, but thats the logical way that the machine was taught.

Again, being undefeated doesn't mean a whole lot when the best teams you played all season were 4-9 Washington in Hawaii and 10-2 Boise State (BSU's other loss was to 4-9 Washington) in Hawaii. Take any other team that is playing in one of the BCS teams and give them that schedule and they are likely undefeated also. I realize they don't have total control over their schedule since they play in a second rate conference and are a nightmare to travel to, but if they want to play in the championship game they need to start traveling to the mainland and playing some real competition. Case in point, last year Hawaii traveled to Alabama, who finished 6-6, and lost. If they come out and beat UGA they will prove a lot of naysayers, myself included, wrong and will show they were underestimated and may have deserved more consideration. Coincindently, they are a 7-10 point dog depending on where you look at the line. We may not like how they came to the conclusion but in the end I think the BCS got it right with OSU and LSU. A playoff wouldn't prove any more than the BCS does. It isn't going to tell us who the best team is just who the better was on any given Saturday and as we've seen from this season, any team can beat anyone on any given Saturday. A playoff system sounds great, but it seems like an awful lot to sacrifice to determine a champion that isn't any more legit than the one that will be determined already. |

I have to disagree. The BCS did not get it right. Nobody deserved to play in the big game this year. If they took the top eight teams and pitted them off in a playoff then the two teams left at the end would be worthy of playing in the big game. I personally do not see the sacrifice that playoff brings. I think the BCS is a sacrifice. |

There are numerous sacrafices that a playoff brings: 1) Forces players to play additional games. This may not seem like a big sacrifice but in last years NC game, there were 17 or 18 players that got drafted in the NFL. Additional games means additional opportunities for injury, which is increased with a the additional workload. Players will also have less time to focus on the student part of being a student-athlete. 2) Money. An official NCAA playoff will have to include the winners of all 11 D-1 conferences and at-larges, with the money split between the NCAA and all conferences. That's a big hit to the power conferences pockets. 3) Tradition. Not a biggie in my book, but you can say good-bye to the Rose Bowl's Big Ten, Pac 10 matchup. 4) Fans and/or atmosphere. How many fans are going to be able to make 2 bowl games in back-to-back weeks around Christmas or New Years? This scenario would be very different from the NCAA's where you have at least 4 teams going to each site for the tourney. 5) Conference play. In order to have a fair system, each conference would have to play by the same rules. Either have a conference championship game or don't. At the very least a full round-robin schedule would need to be in place for conferences that don't have a championship game. How is it fair that Mizzou isn't playing for a national title because they had to play OU twice while in any given season a Big 10 team can get by without playing the conferences two toughest teams. Those are just a few of the sacrafices a playoff system forces off the top of my head. Again, how does pitting the teams against each other mean one team deserves it over another at the end of the playoffs without having a more representative sample during the regular season? Does Hawaii deserve to be in the playoff over Florida or Kansas or Missouri? Does Pitt deserve the Big East crown because they beat WVU on the field? Upsets have been rampant all season. What is your definition of a championship team? Is it the best team? The hottest team at the end of the season? The team with the best overall season? |

Hawaii got screwed, bottom line.... all those other teams lost.... LOST. Any given day a team and win or lose.... Hawaii never did. End of story as far as I am concerned.... but again people don't see things my way so we will agree to disagree.

We will have to wait until after the Bowl games area played now to see if they deserved higher. They need to put up a strong show against Georgia (ie win by a good margin). If they lose, then the arguement they do not belong in the title game will be very strong.

I don't think they need to win by a good margin but if they lose then it will definitely show that they did not belong in the NC game. If they get blown out then it will show that they did not belong in a BCS game at all.
