Game plan is simple. Let Ariza shoot and crowd Kobe to keep him out of the lanes. Ariza is a nice player but a terrible 3 point shooter, let him be and keep defending Kobe.

Yao is the key. He played really determined offense and defense the other night.

Agreed...he really showed up that last game. I'm thinking that after the ghosts of yesteryear disapeared with the series win over Portland, Yao is playing much more free without that monkey on his back.

Jel, Jel, Jel...

Chicago over Boston in 7? And now the Magic over the defending champs in 4? Lakers over the Rockets in 4?

The lesson, as usual: Come NBA playoff time, Jel starts hitting the crack pipe, hard .

Come on zb, we both know you were more shocked than I was that the Celtics won 1. Especially with all the injuries. That's all they will be getting against the young magic. As far as the lakers loss, Kobe was sick and shot poorly but the biggest stat was the 1 from like 17 or whatever it was from 3 point range. Wide open looks didn't drop. Rockets played as well as possible and the show choked and loss by a couple. Not that the loss worries me since we know even before yao's injury that this series was over. Nice of you finally showing up again, btw.

Anyways, back to the report. The fisher suspension was a good thing. Farmar is back. Hopefully for remainder, but we will see if he can produce off the bench. Bynum is getting better game by game and should be big by the finals. Gotta love the trade that sent us morrison and brown. We will have to wait to see if morrison will be any where close to the poor mans lb, but brown has made up for that. The team is coming together nicely. Even LO realizes what's at stake this year.

Game 4 today. There won't be as much drama without yao. Happy day to all you Mother's.

GO SHOW!

You're right on that one, at least. Not much drama in today's LA-HOU game .

How much basketball must you watch before you learn that when one of a team's top stars goes down, the other player's almost always come together and come out strong the next game? I'm not shocked at all that the Rockets won today. Now, whether they can keep that going remains to be seen, but is probably not likely.

Not even one more? Not one now? You sure?

Shocked that they won two, never mind one? Hardly. I never underestimate the heart of a champion.

Now, the heart of LA? Far more in doubt. They should be sweeping the Rockets. But I wouldn't be surprised to see it go 7.

After the first round, you would think there shouldn't be any sweeps. Teams should start being good.

Then again, maybe the Lakers are ready for vacation. They are making me sad. But you knew the rockets were coming hard after Yao got out.

I think the Lakers can take it if they try.

Not sure whats up with celtics magic. I was thinking the magic in 6 and I still hope so. But man, Lebron and Denver are looking like the real deal this post season...

Only 1 sweep in the 2nd round and that is just due to the fact that Cleveland is playing at such a high level and the Atlanta Hawks are so inconsistent. The Cavs really only had to put forth effort in the 2 games at Atlanta.

In the Denver-Dallas series, this series could be much closer with a basket here or a basket there. I think all but one of the games have been decided by a few points. You also have to recall that Dallas took out a hobbled San Antonio team and as a result a lesser team made it into the 2nd round. It is really amazing how Dallas has dropped off the cliff since being 1 quarter away from an NBA championship a few years ago. I'm looking forward to the remainder of the Magic-Celtics and Rockets-Lakers series.

When's Bynum, the magical missing piece last year, going to show up? Lotta money invested in him for 12 minutes per game.

Too bad for Yao. He was playing really well.

Anyone disagree that KB24 becomes "Black Mamba" tonight and goes off?

Actually the Dallas Denver game should be 2-2.
A dallas player intentionally tried to foul carmello twice when they were down 2 and had a foul left to give. the refs didn't call the foul and Carmello hit the game winning 3...

Maybe he hits a two and it goes to overtime but if someone fouls you and you have to inbound with less than 3 seconds, your chance for success drops a lot.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slu...v=ap&type=lgns

Oh well. I hope dallas gets 1 more just to keep it interesting. And yes the Hawks and Heat are both pretty bad teams. Out of the east, I really only think the top 3 are serious contenders. I think with Yao, the top 4 in the west are solid. Well i guess top 3 since san antonio lost manu.

The Lakers finally showed up and did what they should be doing.
Bynum showed up and did a bit of what he should be doing.
Kobe looked to actually play inside the triangle, a bit.
Defense was good but that's because the offense on the Rockets was bad.
Ron Artest believes he is Kobe. 9 points on 15 shots? Yikes...

That all being said. i wonder which Laker's team shows up tomorrow. I'm hoping the same one that showed up yesterday.

It bears repeating:

Heart...Of...A...Champion.

C's have played well beyond SOME people's expectations. It's all gravy from here for me.

And did you hear Dwight Howard throwing his coach under the bus last night? Could bring them together, or bust them apart. We'll see.

Could the Rockets be ****ting the bed and blowing this game any worse?

How many shots in the paint have they missed? How many dumb turnovers?

They're playing scared. Lakers are lucky to be playing them right now. The Lakers aren't even winning this game. The Rockets are handing it to them

This is going to be interesting. After watching 2 teams overachieve and almost upsetting (not really) 2 of the big dogs, it's conference finals time. Credit both the rockets and celtics. I don't know which team over achieved more or which of the favorites underachieved worse. The Western and Eastern finals had 2 extremely close games already and 1 umm upset (again not really). Then again, some picked Denver to take out the Show, but we aint going nowhere, but to the promised land in 4.

Final 4
Lakers up 1 to nothin on the Nuggets. The Lakers should get stronger as the series goes on. They are tired from the extended series with the rockets, but have more than enough firepower to quiet Denver when we head to their house. The extra games helped the bench and bynum, but showed how poor their focus can be. Trevor won't get used by Carmelo the whole series and Chauncey is great, but isn't as quick as those rocket guards.

Magic upset cavs to take home court. They are no longer considered a dark horse by a long shot. Match ups favor them in the conference finals and the finals imo. Experts are saying LBJ will most likely find a way. He played a perfect game imo and it wasn't enough. I like Orlando unless it goes the distance. Then again the refs gave LBJ calls and it was in his house and... better hope the 3 ball starts failing the magic if you want that dream finals.

GAME 2 tonight. GO LAKERS!

So the stage is set. Once again it will feature YOUR LOS ANGELES LAKERS! The extra games have helped the Lakers and now we will see if Bynum can get back. So far everyone else has delivered (mostly at different times) and you've seen how much better the Lakers played when they all showed up. If he plays well, the Magic have no chance.

Orlando is the 1 team that can cause problems for the show. Though the Lakers probably match up better than any other team. They live and die by the 3, but I am more concerned with Howards emergence. Much will hinge on containing howard. He should have been in MVP talk all year imo. LBJ deserved getting it, but howard should have been mentioned and played with that chip on his shoulder. Defense, as usual, will be the key. Make howard carry the load offensively. Don't let their smalls get off. Lewis worries me, but LO should be able to produce enough to cancel him out. We've seen Tork for years and have Ariza or Kobe in case he heats up. Alston is nice, but won't light us up like Nelson did. Speaking of Nelson...
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playof...ory?id=4219606

For the Lakers, offensively, it's easy. Pound the ball inside and make their only defender make plays or get into foul trouble. So expect there to be some drama, but I got the Lakers in 4 if they win the 1st game at Orlando. If not it will go 5.

Poor King James is probably looking to jump ship now. His team let him down big imo. Even if he signs an extension, I see him forcing a trade next year unless he gets a star to play with. 66 wins/best record/home court didn't help one bit. If not for that 3 pointer (that I called), this wouldn't have been a series. So it's getting interesting for all the teams gearing up for the LBJ sweepstakes... NY, Detroit, Miami, Chicago, and every other team in the league. Btw, he would do well playing with Kobe and we have many tradeable assets...

Finals start on Thursday in Los Angeles. Like I said last year, we would be back and here we are. GO LAKERS!!!

Apparently President Obama has the Show in 6. Close, but he better concentrate on fixing the economy.

Expect to hear this a lot for 2 of the games...

Ok so it was a blowout and the magic shot/played poorly. Dwight and company had an awful game... That is no reason not to expect another blowout in game 2.

LO is now the man, dog. He is King Kong for 3 games in a row and looking to make more noise in his contract year. Bynum is maning up nicely against howard. Luke had a great game. Fish and farmar are doing enough. Pau is Pau. Kobe 40 8 8 nuff said. It was a 25 pt blowout in game 1 and they look like they could play better. Though the magic definitely could play a lot better. Nelson messed up the rotation. Van Gundy may truly be an idiot.

Funny thing is that I think unless the Show loses tonight, there might not be anyone posting here but me.

Well that works just fine for me. Bwahahaahaahaaa!!!

GAME 2 @ Staples.

Tipoff is 5PM pacific or like 8PM eastern.

GO LAKERS!!!

Lakers are 1 game away!

7 years...

1 lottery...

1 Conference title...

2 finals appearances...

1 MVP...

After squeaking out a win last game, the magic couldn't get it done with all the help they got from the refs. They choked despite all the favorable calls and chances at the line. The most glaring stat is the 10 and half minutes it took to get a foul call in the 4th. With 24 going to the hole and an active front court playing the middle there were no fouls called against the magic til 1 minute 30 left. 2 T's, foul trouble on Bynum, Gasol, and Odom and the refs just got more and more bold as the game went on. Kobe gets hammered 2 times in a row and nothing. Next play Hido going the other way and doing the exact same thing, whistle. Dwight howard shouldn't have gotten a blocks record, but thanks to all those no calls... Big Dwight yanks Pau's jersey and couple of plays later throws Pau to the ground. On the same play, lil Fisher nudges Dwight and guess who gets called. LOL! Speaking of Derek... Fisher turned into big shot fish for a night nailing the game tying 3 to set up OT and hitting the go ahead 3 pointer. With the Lakers down 3 I said that Howard would miss both and in his best Shaq/superman impersonation, he did. I'd also like the note the ridiculous flagrant 2 foul by that french punk pieturous or whatever. 2 fist into the back with no play on the ball after the game was decided was very french of her. Expect a hard foul if you come into the lane, buddy. I loved the Turkish MJ doing his thing and showboating like the 2nd coming. It reminded me of another Turk playing on the queens back during out last run(s). He couldn't get over either.

This series should be over already and will be soon enough.

GAME 5 Sunday!

I'm heading to the central coast for some quality time...

See you at the parade/bday celebration.

GO SHOW!!!

Gotta love a win with the ref's totally not giving us anything... 17 free throws vs 0 in the 4th... yea... let the conspiracy theory grow...

Anyone else think pietrus should be suspended for that flagrant on pau at the end? Dirty dirty @ss foul..
