Have you heard "Southern Rock Opera" by the Drive By Truckers? Great album . . . has many Skynyrd references. It was clear there is a little band-to-band adoration going on.

funny you should bring this up. I love coming up with water cooler questions and I gave the guys this one just after MJ died.
Name a bigger song than Thriller. I'm talking cross-gender, cross demograph, bigger impact on people. Among all the bands and songs that came up, the only song I could name that could even come close was Freebird. (Thinking about it now, We Will Rock You might be up there to.)
