I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell

http://www.ihopetheyservebeerinhell.com/

I know there are at least a few Tucker Max fans around here, although some people will certainly be offended by his brand of humor.

The green-band trailer for his new movie was released today. I know the movie has a very hard R rating, and I think it was difficult to cut together a trailer that doesn't edit out all the punchlines. I remember Pineapple Express had the same problem. I'm guessing the red-band trailer will be better.

The movie's not being released until Sept 25, but I've got a ticket to the first stop in the premier tour next Tuesday in Portland. I've been following the production blog for this thing since day 1, so I'm pretty excited about getting to go to the first public premier.

I've been a follower of our lord Tucker for some time. (Revil - I have a new drunken hero for you)

Tucker is one of my gods.

This is true, and something Tucker has said he wanted to avoid (putting all the funniest parts in the trailer).

Like Kevster, I've been following his work for a long time. I actually went to the premier party for his MTV True Life episode way back when.

Other than James Franco being pretty good in PE, I thought it was horrible also. After watching it I realized I didn't need to see Seth Rogan in another movie. Ever.

I didn't even think Franco was that good. And good luck not seeing Rogan in anything, since the man can't say no to any film.

I saw the premier of IHTSBIH last Tuesday night. This is certainly a movie where they did NOT put the funniest jokes in the trailer. I already knew the story and a lot of the jokes/punchlines going in, but it was still fun to see it produced into a movie.

It's also a little bit different than most recent comedies.

- The characters aren't one dimensional or caricatures.
- It doesn't require the suspension of disbelief that a lot of comedies do (e.g. Mike Tyson in The Hangover). Pretty much everything in this movie could (or did) happen.
- The lighting and sound mix are a little more like you're actually in the bar/location with the characters, rather than watching them in a movie.

I will go see it again when it releases next month, because there were some lines I missed due to audience laughter.

The movie came out in limited release today. I just saw it again. If you like R rated comedies, go see this movie. The list of theaters is here: http://www.ihopetheyservebeerinhell....releases-today

If it does well enough this week and next, they'll do a wider release. Seriously, go see it. It's funny as hell.

Yes, I saw it and it is really, really funny. It's going in my DVD collection when it comes out.

Seriously, nonstop laughs throughout, and the gross-out scene had the audience in tears.

It is rated "R" amd borderlines NC-17 for the language and nudity. So don't take your kids.
