I've known this was coming for a while. To get ready, I've been netflixing the original series. There are a few preview clips of the new show online.

Exactly! I figured everyone saw the commercials. That is one alien I might not mind being "taken over" by.

I actually plan on watching it, just as I watched 24, but it's a political statement. Not short on Ideas, they just want to remake the original political statement.

On another note, there has been a V marathon on Syfy for like the past week.

like others said its a remake of the old show. more advance graphic affects in the new. same story line as the old show. i think the acting was not so great for most on this version. saving grace will be its on tuesday and the tv line up is weak so it may last. also the first showing was on a Election so there was a lot of interruptions so i have to give it a second chance to impress me.

I'm waiting until Hulu has it. I was unable to watch it last night, so now I have to wait until the 7th.

So, what were your first impressions? (I don't care if I'm "spoiled").

some very nice eye candy on the show. and some nice special special affects. but the acting for the most part could be a lot better. also i feel it missing the mark as its seem like some of the actors on the show seem more like rubber then real !

Eh, I didn't mind the acting. Just about the same as any other TV Show has been to me.

Agreed. Welcome to the world of TV shows. I've changed my opinion though. Being mostly a movie watcher all my life, I used to think all TV shows simply had bad acting. Of course many do, but recently, I've come to realize that at the very essence, it is a very "different type" of acting to begin with. Nobody can deny that Broadway shows or theater will have a very specific type of acting which may not be considered the most realistic acting that you see from some top class movie stars. I feel TV dramas are the same in that they have a little more freedom to be playful and overdramatic. I'm guessing it's Probably because TV watchers sitting at home with 100's of channels to choose from are generally more fickle that somebody who has just paid $10+ at a theater to watch a specific show. TV shows need to keep their audience interested and their peculiar type of acting helps. I'm not saying it;s necessarily bad acting, but as someone who is so used to movies, I've found it very hard to become immersed in TV dramas.

just my 2 cents.

The only thing I could see was that Baccarin may have player her role a bit 'robotic' but I think they're supposed to be at least 'noticed' as being different. So I let that one go. As for the rest it was pretty much par for the course. Nothing overly GREAT, but nothing overly horrible. Also I've noticed ALL shows even BSG take a bit to get their stride.
