Belichick is arrogant. I was cheering for Indy the whole time because....well, I dislike New England. When the Pats lined up to go for it on 4th down, I was like wth?

I wish more teams would go for it on 4th and short.

I didn't watch the game, so I don't know the full setup, but in general I think most teams under value the expected return of going for it over punting. And in this case, it was basically a case of "get these 2 yards and win the game", right? Vs punting where the other team has a 2 minute drill scenario.

Here's someone else's analysis I saw earlier:

Based on Manning's track record I don't have a problem with NE going for it on 4th and 2. You figure that NE has a 60% or 70% chance of picking up that 1st down. I'd say that Manning in a 2 minute drill where he has 4 downs at his disposal has at least a 50/50 chance of scoring a TD starting at his own 30. Add to that the fact that NE's defense isn't quite what it used to be.

He already threw 2 picks, so I would say that running a 2 minute drill for a 60-70 yd drive is not a gimmie. Demoralizing your defense and giving Manning the ball on your 28 with almost 2 minutes to go is a gimmie.

If Belichick is confident on his offense, he should have let Indy gets the TD. Then NE would get the ball back with a over 1 minute and only need a FG to win the game.

The colts milked the clock at the end to ensure there wasn't enough time left on the clock.

I think what he is saying is that they wouldn't have ever tackled anyone on Indy's team. When Clark caught that pass over the middle to start the final drive they should have just let him score.

That's why he should have let Joseph Addai scored the TD with about 1:07 left instead of stopping him at the 1 yard line.
