I can't believe how awesome this thing is.

Just got it today, the Panasonic Showstopper 1000, $150 after rebate (the deal listed here or at techbargains).

I can't ever go back. Its THAT good. If I had cable or a dish, it'd be worth actual retail price.

I'm saving my $$ for a DVD-Recorder (not burner, but stand-alone recorder). Then you can actually save all the stuff you record.

How is it different? Does it use the same tapes?
