did anyone watch it last night?
i think it was a good idea, but first, i don't like how the host says 'good bye.' she is quite irratating. and duh every single one of them who got booted said the same thing 'i am the smartest.' well, duh, obviously you aren't! although, i thought the high school kid shouldn't have gotten kicked off the team, and annoying renee should have.

When I was in England, this show was a huge hit in the hotel bar. I can't really see how it won't hit big: you've got the team component, you've got stategery (i.e., voting someone off to get rid of a threat vs. keeping them for increased earning power), and you've got a bitchy host (definitely a difference from the treacle that stands behind the podium on every other show!).
This thing was absolutely huge over there. Interestingly, they played for WAY less money. First rung was 50 pounds, next was 100, etc. Most winners only received, like, 4-6000 pounds. I missed the show last night, but I'll probably catch it tonight. I loved it over there; Anne can get pretty caustic with some contestants, and I love the little monologues immediately after time expires. Classic. |

I watched it last night too...
In England, they have a weekday version with a possible £10K pot and then a weekly prime-time version for a possible £20K pot. - Not much compared to here, but then the only game show they have that offers a big cash prize (£1 million) is Who wants to be a Millionaire.
So far, I liked the show better in England, but maybe that was due to the show being new to the audience and contestants here... Either way, I like Anne's dry humor. She used to host Watchdog (a UK consumer-watch news show), and her demeanor worked really well with it. |

Besides the annoying host, its readily apparent that the amount of prize money won will be exceedingly smaller than Millionaire. That translates to a bunch of people, allowing themselves to be berated by an annoying host, for piddly sums of money. The only way that the pot seems to be able to grow is if you had a group of know-it-alls who can actually get more than 2 answers right in a row, and then you have to remember that if you bank it, you go back to square one.
I guess we will wait to see, if it actually takes off here..I am banking that it wont, unless the pot starts getting larger. |

You have to admit, though, last night was populated by a group of unsurpassed idiocy. I also don't think anyone really knows how to play the game, because it was pretty obvious that Bill Gates II was pretty bright, and yet the singer didn't vote for him. Frankly, I thought the attorney from Detroit was more annoying than Anne... I don't question the fact that this is going to be a hit. What really ruins it for me is the audience. It's like a ****ing Jerry Springer show when she bags on the contestants..."WooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" ![]() |
