BS!

I had a feeling they would call the game lopsided. Yao started well but Shaq triple his production and dominated.

Tell me this, why did Kobe not get to the line every time he was fouled. Little Francine got to the line by charging into the lane and hoping for foul calls. Sneeze! Foul!

Kobe was raked across the face and slapped on the arm repeatedly. No foul?

That flagrant foul against Shaq, was not. Don't argue about that, if you do you don't know basketball. He grabbed all ball and pushed down. Its the only way to finish defensively. It was the most poorly ref'd game I've seen all year.

NBA is a money machine and 1.5 billion chinese + world wide audience is a huge chunk of change. Kobe should of had 40 points and Francine was given half of his points. We still almost won but for that flagrant. It's cool. We will play again and I doubt you'll be celebrating next time.

Reference past games where Lakers were robbed. From Utah to Sacramento things change at the next meeting. We won't allow the refs to decide in the next meeting.

Very few times have I've totally pissed over losing a game. For all the losses this year, I've felt the Lakers deserved to lose most of the time but that Houston game was wrong. I also thought Yao was going to be a good center but I digress......

bring it!

How is Yao not a good center?

He's been doing well......except for the past few games.

How should Kobe have been given those points? Steve earned those points.

Lopsided reffing huh? Well....I guess it makes up for one of the lopsided reffing games that favor the Lakers.

sounds like jel is a little bitter haahaa. yeah, its true, Shaq didn't flagrant Francis, but it was a foul nonetheless. I don't believe the rockets scored on the following posession so I don't think it would have mattered if they did get the ball back or not.
Another point, LA had the chance to win the game and they didn't. No one to blame but themselves. Kobe was shooting horrendously so, again, no one to blame but themselves.
You can call it marketing, business, etc...NBA is a business, and the referees are human, thus, you will have human error. That is unavoidable. I have given up on the NBA being "fair". The game is flawed and their system is flawed, why? because people are human, there is always going to be favoratism in the game. Its expected.
Unless you got robots calling the game, there probably won't be much of a change in the game. They can add more rules and implement more changes, but it still doesn't fix the problem.
Lastly, Yao is a pretty good center. He's big and he's got game. Deny it all you want, but you can't deny the fact that he has game. ESPN was making comparisons about how Shaq scored more points than any rookie he's faced. Well, none of those rookies guarded Shaq on their first year. Not one. So for a rookies, he got 4 blocks on Shaq on his first meeting with the big fella, that's pretty darn good. And he's only gonna get better.
Anyway, I've seen LA get away with murder in the past few years, this one game isn't gonna kill them. Besides, I think the refs are just getting tired of the Lakeshow now. And frankly, so am I.

Grainger,
Don't know if your a basketball fan or if you just started watching.
When somone pushes your arm, face, elbow, chest, etc. when you are in the "act of shooting" you get free throws. Charge into people and throw the ball up, thats called charging or a no call. Only if the defender moves into you is it supposed to be a foul.

Here is how stevie didnt earn those points, charging to the hole and throwing up prayers waiting for the refs to bail him out. "Achoo." <whistle> Foul!

If Kobe doesn't get to the line for being hit while in the "act of shooting", than why does stevie get to the line for running into players. Do you agree on the flagrant foul call? It was a very bad call. Tell me different.

Be careful when you try to say Lakers get all the calls. Watch tape of Kobe and the amount of times he doesn't get an obvious call it would make you believe refs decided games for bookies.
Shaq hardly ever gets a call if he dunks. I'd say half of his dunks someone is literally hanging onto him. According to the rules that is an "and 1" play. Every time "and 1". They changed the rules this year to allow teams to double Shaq using the zone. The game was better when they had to defend one on one.

If your inferring that game 6 last year was given to the Lakers, what about game 5? The queens got every call in game 5 but none of the Laker haters seem to remember that. Game 7 at home and they choke. To put it in perspective, if Kobe wasn't food poisoned than it wouldn't have gone past 5.

Houston we get to play 2 more times. I'll wager Houston doesn't beat us again and that includes the playoffs.

In closing when you refer to the Lakers, I'd like you to use their proper title, "The World Champion Los Angeles Lakers!"

-jel
Btw, I was one of those guys who said Yao could be good in this league way before he came here. Doesn't have the upper body yet but he has big legs and can move, unlike the other centers his size. I also felt the chinese team he played on didn't utilize his size. When he learns to play American style basketball and gets a little stronger he will get better and probably be the next great center. Can he hang with Shaq, not yet.

Yao did decent against the guy. There were people who didn't think he would get doubles digits in any stat category against Shaq. And yet...he did get a double-double. So in that respect...yes...I do think Yao was able to hang with Shaq. They guy was blocked by Yao 3 times! When was the last time that happened?

JiForce from the big LB!

or as some one of the Samoans I knew put it, "......from the Big Island......... of Long beach." (lil islander humour)

A Laker disliker? Not quite a hater but on that dark path. Do you know how many cities would kill to have a team like the Lakeshow?
Cleveland, Portland, Seattle, NY, Miami, Charlotte, etc etc etc. How can you claim to be getting tired of the lakeshow? Damn homey, don't know what else you could ask for in a franchise. You must be young. Don't you remember showtime and later the struggles the Lakers went through in the 90's. Dues have been paid and titles have been won. Who else has won more in the last 25 years? No one. Not in any sports franchise. 8 Titles since 1980. Lakers are a class act. You don't see dirty plays or disrespecting others during the game. Trashtalking, but thats part of sports. Your not gonna jump to Dallas or Sactown cuz were not in 1st place are you. Shaq is the most dominant. If Kobe got calls like MJ, Lakers would be unstoppable. Don't tell me you were a bulls fan. It's ok young buck I know you have your valid reasons so take care with your new team. But don't get mad when I clown you for jumping ship.

Grainger,
Yao got 3 blocks, yeah! He also got away with 3 charges. Oops, did you really think him running over our players was legal. If Shaq had run over any of their players dribbling to the hole I guarantee it would have been a foul call. Grainge, aren't you from L.A.? Don't have to answer cuz its non of our business but you should be a Laker fan. I understand Yao is repping for Asian folk, but he's
a) Still a foreigner, as in not an American citizen.
b) On another cities team
c) a communist j/k He can't help that, but its true.
I like the kid, but he got away with some fouls. Shaq had to get used to playing all 7'5 of the Ming Dynasty. He made some adjustments and 30 points later the game was given away.

Thats how the ball bounces.

Nothin against either of you. I don't like people bashing other peoples race and don't put up with no Laker hating.

well, i didn't watch the whole game, and i was half asleep during the portion i did see, but (and this goes for pretty much any basketball game) can you really, honestly say that the rockets got all the good calls and the lakers just got ripped on all of em? i mean, other than the refereeing, was there some other reason why one could say the rockets won, because i think that would be a more valid point to raise? i understand that, had some of those fouls been called or not called, the game MIGHT have turned out differently, but those are still nevertheless all hypotheticals at best; even still, the lakers had the lead towards the end. i wasn't really watching closely enough to see discrepancies in refereeing, but what i did see (before i fell completely asleep; i was exhausted ) was steve francis hit a clutch 3-pointer in the last seconds of regulation. that speaks louder to me than any possible botched calls.

and jel, i completely understand when you take offense to laker-hating, but isn't unreasonably biased dislike of a team just as bad as blind adoration of one?

Actually, I'm not from LA. I'm in Napa, CA right now for school, but I'm orignally from Houston, TX....lived there for most of my life... Hot as nothing else over there too!

I'm not just rooting for Yao, I'm rooting for the entire team. I really like the Rockets cause they are also a both a good team and a class act. I think it was you who said that you didn't like Steve Francis. But I do like him a lot...and that's because Hakeem changed him into a classy player. I do remember that he was as cocky as anyone else in the NBA right now, but Hakeem made him be a more humble player...and that's frickin' awesome. The same with Yao Ming. He's seems to be a good sport and an all around classy guy. I mean...he took Shaq's comment and played it down...which is insanely cool in my book. He could have made a big deal about it...but he didn't.

And, I didn't actually see the game. I just was reading the stats and overviews of the games from different sites...so I didn't see all the plays made. I wish I could have seen it though.

And what does it matter that he's not an American Citizen yet? Some of the better players in the NBA right now are not!

Can't make a point without dissing me huh Jel? Nice and classy, just like your Lakers. I guess I shouldn't expect too much from Laker fan.

Nah, I don't jump on anyone's band wagon. I have the tendency to follow players more than teams. Unfortunately, real classy players that are skilled are very hard to find these days. Back in the old days, I could easily point out 10 great players that are my favorites. Now, I can't name you 5.

As, FS says, you blind adoration is as bad as the Laker hating you're receiving, and for good reason too. You go around dissing Grainer, yet you're no better than he is. He's defending his team and you're defending yours. Personally, I don't like either team. But I do see something special in Yao. However, I was very disappointed Houston picked him up. I'd rather see him in NY or somewhere where his could be the main man and develop his skills.

Oh well, what do you do when the NBA is rigged? You just have to follow the flow and hope it gets better.

1st of all I dont hate the Rockets or any other team for that matter. Trailblazers were the closest since the my contemp for the Celtics in the 80's. Since L.A. humbled the Trailblazers, I don't even hate them. Don't try rub salt and expect people to be quiet. If I celebrated USC beating on UCLA, Notre Dame and Iowa, I'd expect someone to counter.

I do know that game was poorly officiated. Kobe to the hole FOUL! What no foul? What kind of !@## was that? Stevie charging blindly to hole <whistle>. Total bs! I got no complaints when the game is called the same on both sides. We lose, no problem. That game was bs! I expect some calls to go to the home team but this was one of those games where I'd like to run tape and ask the refs why was this called and this not. BTW stevie went for a whole 4 points the next game. No calls no goals.

JiForce, I wasn't dissing you. You will know if I'm trying to diss you. My thing is to have a little fun, show a little passion, but always be civil about it. You don't like the Lakers... Well good! If your a basketball fan, it's your loss. Lakers are the premiere franchise in basketball. Jerry West did a hell of a job. We don't have billionairs buying every player available. The teams that compete with us generally have 2 starting lineups. Portland, Sacramento and Dallas have an amazing amount of talent. Their 2nd stringers could start and compete for the playoffs. We got the 2 best players in the game and a ragtag bunch that can get it done when it counts. Dont know how you could feel the Lakers weren't "classy." Lakers was always a class act. Magic made the game flow like no one else. They didn't play "dirty" like most of teams they competed with (ie: Detroit Bad Boys). Since Shaq has been here he only went off twice. All those cheap plays on him and he only retaliated twice. If he wanted to, he could make people never go to the hole. Oops your carreer is over -a 350 pound sledgehammer. Others played like that but Shaq, for as much people say he does this or that, is pretty tame out there.
BTW who are these classy players your talking about? Are guys like Robert Horry and Dereck Fisher on the list? They do their jobs and keep quiet. How bout Kobe? No, too cocky? MJ? MJ didn't have any rings at Kobe's age, got more calls and was very cocky FYI. Maybe Chris Webber or Vlade Divac.

Blind adoration I have for nothing. I am loyal though. I consider it one of my better qualities. I enjoy basketball, by far my favorite sport. Lakers, by far my favorite team. They win, they lose that doesn't change.

Oh and Yao fits perfectly in Houston. The only thing they needed was a proper center. He will get better playing in the west against west centers than in the weast. Knicks have no one get him shots.

I just have to hope the Lakeshow plays to their potential and then games won't be decided by the imperfect refs.

The World Champion Los Angeles Lakers RULE!

Oh Jel your like never wrong!

ESPN.com

Report: NBA rescinds flagrant foul

O'Neal
The NBA on Jan. 20 rescinded a controversial flagrant foul call made against Shaquille O'Neal during the Lakers' 108-104 overtime loss to the Rockets on Jan. 17, the Los Angeles Times reports. On the play in question, Steve Francis drove to the basket, where O'Neal made contact with the point guard. A flagrant foul was called by referee Monty(the idiot) McCutchen. Lakers coach Phil Jackson was subsequently hit with a technical foul for arguing the call. The technical foul was also rescinded by the NBA, according to the Times. The sequence helped the Rockets increase their lead from one point to four points. O'Neal did not comment on the decision. The game marked the first meeting of O'Neal and Rockets rookie sensation Yao Ming, and it was no mismatch.

We should have won that game!

Time for me to gloat.

Yeah pretty much. Maybe they should rescind Samaki Walker's 3pt shot at last years western conference finals against the Kings too.

And Jel. I take offense to people that try to point out my age and use that as point to argue about the extent of my knowledge in basketball. What's so civil about trying put someone down by using their age? Like I said, very classy, typical from a Laker fan.

Oh I know your Kobe won more rings than MJ at age 24. Haha, classic. You and I both know how well Kobe would do if he had to carry the team himself like MJ did. So save it til Kobe proves to be a leader. Then we can have new debate about the whole Kobe vs MJ issue.

Kobe is talented but cocky, hasn't proven much other than the fact he can ride Shaq to the finals.
Shaq, talented for a big man. If I had to draft a team, he'd be my first pick. I don't really have a problem with him. However, he can be a dumbass at times. But that's expected when your foot is bigger than your brain.
The other bench warmers are just that, Bench warmers. Horry was a dumbass. Stopped respecting him after the whole Danny Ainge fiasco.
Fox, think preseason versus kings...then read the LA times before their first meeting. That's not class...Fox should go shoot himself.
I'd go on but you get the point.
My philosophy is to go out and play the game, keep your mouth shut and don't complain. You know the media will magnify every you say, so keep it short, keep it sweet. No need to dis your teammates publicly or your opponents. You also get Shaq saying "...Yao is for real." Then you got him mocking him on another interview. CLASSY! Right.
Oh, let us not forget a former Laker class act, Isiah Rider. Nick the Quick, etc...Yeah VERY CLASSY. ALWAYS A CLASS ACT! Haahaa.
I don't really hate the Lakers as much as you think I do. There is one Laker I do like. Kareem Rush. Homeboy can shoot. Too bad for Indy. Haahaa

Ji,
Age has nothing to do with understanding basketball, but like anything else it does take time to gain wisdom. I have no idea your age. It was the tone and reasoning of your post that made me go there. Being young is great. Wisdom and understanding is developed.
Some of your "reasoning" and the rational behind hating the Lakers makes sense to you. It's the same reasons all Laker haters use.

I can compare Kobe to MJ. The 2 premiere guards/players from past and present. Don't forget the supporting cast around MJ. Scottie was considered the best small forward in the game at the time and Horace a premiere pf. Later Rodman was the best defensive pf in the game (ask Malone). He had a cast of pure shooters around him like Paxson and later Kerr. Kobe leads the league in triple doubles. Besides Shaq he has a motley assortment of talented but-not-starting-anywhere-else players. He's averaging 27 points against zone defense. In a league that doesn't shoot as well but is physically better than in MJ's heyday. It will be summed up in ring totals. Kobe ends up with 7, he wins..........

Lets have a look at your other "hate the Lakers" points.

Horry threw a towel. Big deal. Frustration, a one time occurance. Do you know one of his children is handicaped. Do you know he does work for charities and is considered a class act all around the league. He works hard at practice and only takes time off to attend to his young daughter. He hit some of the most clutch shots in the history of the NBA. You bring small obscure data and try to make a mountain out of it.

Rick took a huge paycut to play for a contender. So I guess greedy isn't on your list of things you hate about Fox. Fox was the man who pulled Scottie Pippin to the side after Pip tried to instigate a fight with Kobe during the conference finals. Fox whispered something and Pip turned and left. That was the series where pip threw a running elbow at John Salley. Pip should have been suspended, Salley was just standing there after the whistle. Point is Fox is our enforcer when things get rough. Every team has one. Sacramento feels they were robbed. They weren't, they just didn't have it in them to finish.

Nick Van Excel was traded

Isiah Rider It was a 2nd+ chance for him......

Show me your ideal team full of good guys. Maybe it's Cleveland. How bout the Clippers?

Sacramento? Talked their mess and it escalated. You got to take the ring, not beg for it. Game 6? F!@# game 6, what about game 5? Every call went Sacramentos way. They couldn't finish on their own court. Kobe and Shaq did. We all celebrated. You probably did too. Most of your friends did for sure.

"Typical of a Laker fan." Are you trying to label me? Good cuz I am your typical Laker fan. Worldly, yes a little. Smart.... Loyal? Yes very.

Why don't we get back to original topic.

-Yah for Rockets!
-Boo! badly called game. Flagrant/Technicals
-Stevie hit a 3 they deserved it
-Blah
-Blah
-Blah
-ESPN/ L.A. Times: Flagrant foul and technical rescinded.
Doesn't change the L to a W but it completely validates my statement about the game. My point was made and was backed by the NBA. Your opinions, are just that.

Let me know when you pick a team or when you find that great perfect player to admire. They are closer than you think.

In the meantime feel free to root for YOUR WORLD CHAMPION LOS ANGELES LAKERS!

-jel
BTW, we lost tonight to Golden State. We didn't play D and deserved to lose.

Shaq and Kobe are great players, but they will not win the championship again.

First, their other three are not the best in the world. Horry, Fox, and Shaw would not be starters on any other team. Fox is not a go to guy, nor is he a good rebounder. He's just there, and he contributes occasionally. 10 and 5 are decent numbers, but nothing extra-ordinary. Horry's 7 and 7 aren't great numbers either. Shaw is the lakers' only pure shooter and he's pushing old. Your point guard, Fisher is a 11 and 3 guy (3 assists). Compared to the other great teams (Dallas, Sac, NJ) who have great PG, that's not very good. Then you have these other guys, Walker, George, and Rush who you really can't call upon to contribute when it counts. Apart from Shaq and Kobe, the Lakers don't have a very deep team.

Also, look at their record. They have been playing well, but they have to play better to get into the playoffs. By that time, the effort they took to climb back into the standings will have worn them out and they wouldn't last in a 7 game series against Sac.

The Lakers are a good team, but I don't think they have enough this year.

Now, I just wish the Rockets WOULD STOP PLAYING ONE ON ONE BASKETBALL!!!!!! GOOD LORD, 8 ASSISTS TOTAL IN ONE GAME?

Jel,
you're right, age has nothing to do with it. I don't think I've made enough comments in regards to my basketball knowledge for you to really label me either. Which is why you shouldn't have brought it up in the first place.
I've been watching and following bball since Moses Malone was in the league so it is safe to say that I've been following it for some time.

Its funny how you call everything Laker hating. Lets just say I'm not the same type of NBA fan you are. I don't follow a team blindly like some people I know. As stated BEFORE, I'm more of a player fan than a team fan. I don't accept every single player in that team just because I like the organization. For me to enjoy watching that organization, I would need to enjoying watching the players. And frankly, I don't enjoy watching the Lakers play. Back in the 80s it was fun watching the Lakers. Heck even the early and mid 90s it was not too bad. But the last 5 years haven't been quite the same.

Its my choice to dislike Horry for that particular incident. Does it matter to me that his kid is handicapped? No, not really. It wouldn't matter to him if I had a kid that was handicapped. So just because he does, I'm supposed to like him? Haha. Its good that he gives back to the community. Then again, so does Steve Smith and a bunch of other NBA players. Heck, even Shaq does.
As for Fox, I liked him while in Boston and was pretty happy to see him in LA. Very nice of him to stay behind for less cash. But does that mean he's excused for making a bad decision for going after Christie? In your book maybe, but not in mine. If Fox was still a Celtic and went after Kobe, would you still be calling him a classy guy?
Kobe vs MJ debate, as I said before, should be something you can prove. Pip is overrated. Homeboy can't even shoot freethrows for crying out loud. He was good, but not as great as you claim. Same for Horace. And sure, Rodman was a defensive stopper. But can you seriously tell me that you'd take Pip/Grant or pip/Rodman over Shaq? Haha. I know I wouldn't.
By the way, you forgot to defend Shaq in your last post.
You know, just because players are traded or release from the Lakers doesn't mean they weren't a Laker. Nick played a good chunk of his career in LA, you can't dismiss that so easily. Are we going to discredit Kobe of his Laker days just if he were to be traded or if he were to sign with another team?
I've seen way too many Laker fans with tunnel-vision. Those are the typical Lakers I see. They'll argue about everything, right or wrong and try to justify it. Call it pride, loyalty, doesn't matter. All the same.
Anyway, you wanted me to point out a team that was ideal in my eyes. Well, I'm sorry to say but I'd have to say none. I can, however, name you a few players that I do admire for being good talented and quality guys. TMac, Paul Pierce, Yao, Diggler, Stockton, Nash, Matrix.
Not a bad bunch of guys in my book.

One thing that being an athlete on competitive teams has taught me is that if you aren't good enough to fight through bad calls and win, you do not deserve to win. You lose, period.

The fact is, bad calls go back and forth; we just have a tendency to only focus on the ones that affect our favorites. The only reason that the flagrant and technical fouls were rescinded is because the Lakers--Shaq in particular--are media hogs. The sad thing is, this shows me something about the character of the Laker Franchise: they are grabbing at straws and too focused about past events--and not in a positive way, either. If the Lakers even want to see the playoffs, they are going to need a complete attitude overhaul.

Man...they are getting a bit better. Francis has had a lot more assists in the 4 games we won in a row....but these last few games against the Spurs and the Mavs, the whole team was just playing selfish ball! Hopefully they will do better next game....

Nightly general replies.

lol

You judge peoples character by one incident and I show you other things about them and you dismiss it. Your blindly hating the Lakers, which is alright with me. Still didn't acknowledge the fact that bad calls basically gave houston the victory. Media begs Shaq to talk. For all the stuff he's said in his carreer, it's not nearly as obnoxious as Sir Charles. But it was cool when Chuck did it right!

Pip was overrated in many people's eyes. The fact remains he was the perfect compliment to MJ's game. Could he carry the team? No. But neither did MJ. Did MJ win it without pip? No. 6 championships and 2nd most feared player on those teams. Give Pip another player of MJs caliber and who knows. They needed each other.

As for your list. Man do you really contradict yourself.
TMac, is he not as cocky as Kobe? He has game but again no rings. Left a team cuz he was in someone else's shadow. Vince called him his cousin(2nd) and treated him like a brother. They were potentially the next MJ and Pip. Why not stick it out and become the man. What if Kobe went to another team cuz he wanted to be the man? You'd use that as an excuse to hate him. Be consistant plz.
John Stockton? Hard working but also one of the dirtiest players of all time. The little grabs and bumps he gets away with. On top of that he plays for the cursed spazz. You were never a Laker fan if you liked Stockton. I mean, I respect a lot of guys game. As far as guards go Stockton has nothing over former Laker great Magic Johnson.
Try to dispute that and I will diss you.
Paul Pierce from L.A., was stabbed by some ganstas in Boston. Maybe that makes him a gansta too. Don't know if that fits your pure as snow image.
Diggler? Who the hell is that? Dirk the choker.
Nash? Oh maybe you have thing for white guards. Now I get it.
Matrix? Wasn't that a movie or car?

New guy ( )
So your an athlete and that makes you an authority. I played high school football..... Something I have in common with Al Bundy!
Don't give me bull about the calls being rescinded cuz Shaq complained. Players complain all the time. It was rescinded cuz it was the wrong call. Did you see the play? If you didnt than.........
if you did and you thought it was a flagrant foul, than maybe you don't know as much as you think. All I've been hearing from haters all year is the bad ref'n in game 6 of last years conference finals. Badly ref'd game IMO. It made up for badly ref'd game 5 though and gave either team a chance to win it at Arco. I thought I saw CWebb cry and Vlade was looking for his cigs. Boo hoo!

Let's all think about it.
Grainger brought up the game. I said it was poorly ref'd. A couple days later the league rescinds the flagrant and tech. What is left to argue about? My point was made. Now I have to hear small obscure details and opinions that have nothing to do with the topic.

Who thinks the Lakers win it all this year. I do! But even if they don't, they are the franchise everyone else wishes they could be and the only team I support.

-jel
BTW, no hard feelings. I'd clown with you all in real life too. Ask the Bulls fans at my gym.

Shaq is not as obnoxious as Chuck? Yeah, but Shaq is still obnoxious. Chuck is a guy you either love or hate. People know what type of person he is and treat him accordingly. Chuck is fun to watch, like a clown in a circus act, no more.
Pip is overated. Everyone makes a huge deal how MJ couldn't win it without him. Sure, but at least MJ tried. Kobe just rides on Shaq's coatails all year long. Take Shaq out of the line up and all you got is crap. At least TMac can carry his team to a decent record.
My list is just fine. TMac is cocky? The whole Toronto incident was bound to collapse. TMac left not only because of the reasons you stated, which are minor in my opinion. But also because Isiah left. Looking at the way things are in Toronto with Vince being a complete moron right now, it wasn't exactly a bad decision. Wait til you see Kobe jump ship once Shaq retires, you'll be labeling him a traitor. Besides, TMac was presented with a great opportunity to develop and grow as a player. And he did. The thing he did for the little kid that got shoot in MD, classy.
Kobe isn't a bad player, but to compare him to MJ is a mistake in my opinion. Kobe is talented and I would actually like to see what he could do with a team of his own. Whether he were to leave the Lakers or stay there after Shaq leaves.
Stockton dirty? Sure, I hear that a lot. I watch a lot of his games, sometimes I see calls go his way, sometimes I don't. You see, you call Stockton dirty, but when Shaq "POWERS" his way into the hoop, or hooks someone on his way for a dunk, that's not dirty. There's no foul there. Haahaa. Me? Never a Laker fan cuz i like Stockton? Hahaa. Ok, Laker fan, spare me your lectures on what a true Laker fan is. Hahaha. You're just bitter cuz Magic isn't the assist leader anymore. Most of LA hates the Jazz for that reason alone, or maybe you don't like him because he looks grumpy all the time. Haahaha. No big surprise there. If Stockton were a Laker, you'd be cheering for him and calling him a clean player. Haha, you're so transparent.

I can go on and defent my other choices but I don't really need to because you got nothing on them. Blah, this is like talking to a wall.

If Earl Boykins contested a call, you think it would be rescinded? Fat chance. And don't give me any bull about a bad call being rescinded even if Shaq didn't complain about it.

Oh, and I seem to remember something from last year. Oh, what was it again? Oh, that's right! The Lakers, after winning a game on a bad call, tried to publicly humiliate the Kings for being poor losers and using the media to draw sympathy. Sounds familiar, no?

The fact is, the Lakers lost. Regardless of whether or not the call was rescinded, they lost. They weren't good enough to overcome a bad call, and because of that, they didn't deserve to win, pure and simple. As much as I hated the fact that the Patriots, , won the superbowl last year, the truth is that the teams that lost to them just didn't play well enough to overcome bad refereeing. In my book, those teams that lost didn't deserve to win, just like the Lakers. And sitting around, using your media presence to try and change calls that are over and done with is a waste of time and counterproductive.

Do you honestly expect me to listen to all this bs?
1st of all Magic isn't the assist leader cuz he contracted the AIDS virus. In spite of that, he did more in his shortened carreer than any of the players you "admire." Do you think at the pace both players were going stock would have caught him. You are not the basketball scholar you claim to be. Why pull punches here. Don't try say Stocktons name in the same breath as Magics, unless your saying how much less a guard he was. From size (literally) to rings(literally) stockton aint $hit. What? You keep bringing up this bs about this and that. Utah aint won nothin! NOTHING! What? Show me the quality in not being able to finish. Hell, we went through 2 dynasties in between the time the spazz last went to the finals and choked. Remember the final game of Bulls/spazz?
Play by play: Just hold on to the ball Karl... Just hold on... oops..... Jordan with the steal.. Jordan shakes loose russel.... Jordan with shot..... its good!!! Bulls win! (Bulls suck BTW!)
Man I never laughed so hard at the futility of a team till I saw that. I remember the Jazz barely beat us a couple years back. Spazz celebrated hard, we played again a few days later and handed them a 46 point defeat. When will they get payback for that? NE... VER!
Dont you hate punk kids who try to be different just for sake of being different and argue with you just to argue. I think people try to show people how cool and unique they are cuz they know stuff that no else knows. Sometimes the reason people know stuff no else knows is cuz they dont know jack! In your book.............blah blah blah in your book...... nothing. Its ok for Sac to complain but not the Lakers? Your so wise in the way of basketball. LOL!
You didnt answer a single point. So many what ifs? What if Shaq got the call everytime he went up and someone was hanging on him? What if they changed the rules back to no zone D? You know that was instated to slow players like Shaq and Kobe. Lakers were too damn dominant. Tmac? He aint half the man Kobe is.
Got|RINGS? Stockton im still laughing at that LOL! TMAC again sounds like my friends 12 year old brother. Except the kid knows basketball.

Lad,
So what professional sport did you play? I got a dozen guys at my gym that played pro or are trying to get back in or played in Canada and are training to make the cut here. We talk a little basketball/sports and they thought that was bs call and we should have won. Their opinions are more valid than ours right? One guy told me tonight the Raiders would win for sure(his brother plays on the broncos). I should go make that bet right! You can come out and discuss you "authority" with us. Got to warn their some Raider fans and their a little funny, you know, about their team. Probably still mad about last year. There's a strange silence in there after anyone says anything about the Raiders. Like some religious mumbo jumbo....but I digress. Just make it a good game to watch for once and Bucs 6 Raiders 3.
Last year? What a bunch of whiny tricks Shaqtown was. They were handed game 5. Did you watch? It was just as bad if not worse than game 6. Lakers didn't get any calls. Thats ok right! Plz?!?! What about game 7? Were we were given that too? Fact is if Kobe doesnt get food poisoned its a sweep.
I'm one to generally think a team should win by 10 to avoid last second miscalls, but crucial calls should be reviewed. Instant replay baby! Sometimes teams go to the wire. Do you think in those games the ref should decide it? If you said yes, even in your head even for a second, your no athlete.

Don't know how else to put it but I made my points and now your just wasting my time. Come back and gloat if the Lakers fail. If they win ........

Fair warning: Better hope we somehow fail to make the playoffs or expect another parade. We can all go together and I can make you honorary Laker fans for a day. See what it feels like to root for a winning team.

-jel

BTW, Thanks for the the Laker fanatic thing GAM or whoever gave it to me. Can you make my ribbon Purple and Gold. I'll pay ya for it!

Haha geez I wonder how Magic got AIDS..hhmmmm...you figure it out.
In this subject, Stock got SCOREBOARD, argue all you want about the "what ifs"...if magic this...if magic that...point is, he got ill and stopped playing and now stock is the all time assist leader. Period.
You can't make your point. Mock me all you wan't but as I said before, you're transparent. you're no basketball expert. just a blind fan. I hate jackasses that think they are better than others. People who distort truth to argue a weak point. You're Lakers are 19-23. Deal with it. No need to pick on non-Laker fans and call them names.
By the way, HOW DO YOU LIKE THEM NETS!
SCOREBOARD. Deal with it.

dude jel... ain't nobody hardly even mentioned anything about the lakers-kings series last year... why you keep bringing that up over and over and over again, in every other post? nobody here's complaining about the calls that were made in that series. i only say this cuz, as a kings fan, i never made a big deal about the reffing or whatnot, but all my laker-fan friends keep coming up to me and sayin "oh you're just upset because you think the reffing was bad, but it was bad in game 6 too " and i'm like "what? please, get over it."

anyway, aside from that, i'm having fun reading yall's posts. yall crack me up...

Wow. Good thing I actually have time on my hands to respond to you with. Unfortunately, you won't listen to what I'm saying anyway. But I must say a few things.

First, I'm not into the whole dick measuring that is, "I played at a higher level so I am some how better than you." It is elitism at its worst, and I don't care for it. I don't care to share that much of my background, but I will say this: I have been coached and trained by both professional players and coaches; I have played along side players that have went pro to varying degrees; I've played with guys who have more championship rings than fingers; I've played with guys who have never lost a game in high school; I've trained with national caliber athletes... the list goes on. I've had championships slip through my fingers; I've been a member of a losing team quite often. I know the difference between winning and losing, and I know the reasons for it. I feel that that makes me an authority on this topic... maybe not MORE of an authority than your friends, but an authority nonetheless.

The fact remains, whining doesn't win games. Going back to change a call won't change the outcome of a game. Refs should be looked at as nothing more than a part of the court. If there is loose board on the court, and you trip and fall and turnover the ball, are you going to shake your fist at the board and say, "It's no fair!" Or are you going to get your fat, Burger King eating ass up and keep playing? There is no difference.

Ideally, refs shouldn't decide games, you're right. But we don't live in an ideal world. All I'm saying is that championship teams fight through the bad calls and just move on. Right now, the Lakers aren't acting like a championship team.

Ji,
Your what we call a traitor. John Stockton? Stockton sux! You dont sound like an idiot, you are one! Assist leader? Would he trade that for one ring? Oh, and don't try to sound brave on the net, these are things I would say to your face.
Maybe you've never had sex, but people do that and there can be consequences. You laugh at a Magic getting aids? Like I said you sounded young and unwise and you proved you are. Getting aids isn't funny. Do you think any of the players you admire hasn't had multiple partners? Magic, by coming out and stating he had contracted HIV changed the NBA's and the worlds view on it. Till then it was considered a mostly homosexual disease.
And who keeps trying to flip the script. You go from ability to morality to things that have nothing to do with basketball. Than you have your "chosen ones." These players that you know are better than everyone else, yet NO RINGS!.
Don't try to verbally spar with me. The only support you'll get is from other haters. You don't answer points you just try to outsmart yourself. Guess thats not too hard condisering your not.
"oh but Laker fans this and Lakers that"
<ji in his manliest yet still girly voice cries out>
"look at the Lakers record... blah blah blah"
<a sweating hater says as he furiously types, he's a man on a mission to prove to everyone he knows the Lakers don't deserve to win>
LOOK AT THE RING COUNT young Anakin
You claimed to once be a Laker fan, you are now a pathetic traitor and I laugh at you and your kind. There is no lower animal than a traitor even lower than the rat. Maybe your son Luke will go down the right path and bring you back to the light side, AKA the right side!
<jel flippin the script>

Free,
You need to go back and read. Shaqtown was brought up as a Lakers got calls issue. I just set it straight so there's no misunderstanding.

In closing over the years I've dealt with all these "anyone but the Lakers" people. 1st Portland is going to kill the overmatched Lakers.
Than a 6er's is underated and will beat the Lakeshow.
After that a Shaqtown has more talent and is a better team.
3 Rings later and now WHAT? Lakers are slowly creeping back to the playoffs. Notice how everyone comes out to talk smack when the Lakeshow is down. Yet for the Last 3 years it was only dopey who said anything bad about the lakers and he was a die hard bulls fan. You better hope we don't make it, cuz I will diss you for running your mouths.

Have a nice day now.

No doubt, Lakers aren't playing good ball yet. There have been glimpses of their potential at times. The Dallas game in particular.
I don't mind being beat. Thats part of sports. I do mind if the Lakers choke or if bad officiating goes unpunished. That ref who whistled the flagrant seemed to have it out for the Lakers. There's a lot of money involved and refs should be accountable. Kobe got slapped across the face hard enough that he bit throught his mouth piece and cut his tongue on the way to the hole. He still went up and was hammered again and hit the shot but got no call. If I can see that, some ref watching the play from no more than 10 feet away can see it. Didn't watch the New Jersey game, but I figured its another game we didn't show up for.
Honestly I just would like to see close reffing on both sides. Let the team who plays better win. Cuz if it was the most talented than Sac and Dallas and Portland would be the only teams involved.

No need to waste your time trying to diss me. All you prove is how transparent you are. You addressed none of my issues. You only skip to those you can answer and ignore those you cant. Why? Cuz you can't. You got nothing. You are nothing. We all see right through you other wise you'd have more support than this. Plenty of Laker fans out there I'm sure but none stick up for you...hmm I wonder why.
Don't worry, I just said I once enjoyed watching the Lakers play. Obviously you missed the part were I said I was more of a player fan than team fan. But oh yeah, I forget you have selective memory since that's something very common among Laker farts. hahaha. Traitor? Me? Nah, I swear loyalty to no one. Just to the players I like. I watch games openly. I cheer on good players regardless of which side makes them. You see, I'm a fan of the sport. I give credit where credit is do. You on the other hand, only give it to your Laker fools.
No, AIDS is not funny. However, think being a dumbass and having sex unprotected with multiple partners is unexcusable. I do give him props for fighting the disease and helping people learn from him.

Anyway, nerd boy, go back to your starwars crap. I can't even believe you tried to pull that one off. Hahaa what a nerd. I've made my points, you on the other hand have proven yourself to be a bigger fool. Or full of crap. Take a pick.

Oh, kinda hard to have a comeback about SCOREBOARD isn't it? hahaha. Numbers don't lie. Lakers can have their rings. Doesn't matter. Tell me that Devean George prefers a ring over a hall of fame career and I'll laugh in your face Laker fool. Don't waste your time dissing me, you're doing a piss poor job doing so.
