how should the all-star game have ended?

3.8 seconds left, and jermaine o'neal fouls kobe on a 3-pointer?!?!

come ONNNNN man!

i mean, when magic made that little hook in his last all-star game, there was still 10 seconds left on the clock and they just decided to stop the game right then and there. last night, when jordan made that fadeaway over shawn marion, there was 3 seconds left! let the man have his glory!! how perfect would that have been!!

i mean, i dunno... what do you guys think? for one, should the ref have swallowed his whistle on that play? secondly, should the west have even tried that hard to get a legitimate play off, or just let jordan have his day?

i think it would have been asking too much for kobe to miss any of the 3 free throws on purpose, personally, but jermaine o'neal DEFINITELY did not have to jump out at him like that, and the ref DEFINITELY didn't have to blow his whistle. i went nuts when jordan made that last shot, and i would have liked to have seen the game end that way...

my verdict:
jermaine o'neal = ultimate goat

I live in Atlanta and all I can say is that I'm glad all those fools are leaving. Freaking weekend was a nightmare here.

that was a really stupid foul on o'neil. i mean, it was so obvious that i think it made it really difficult for the ref to swollow his whistle.

but i agree. i remember watching the 92 all star game (magic's last) and it was totally the magic johnson show. i don't blame kobe for not purposely missing the free throws though. i think that would have been kinda shifty, because then it's like he's purposely throwing the game away. i think the west should have just gotten the inbounds and taken it up the court slow and let time run out.

but hey, you just have to be happy that bud selig wasn't running the all-star game. he would have ended it after the first overtime because everyone was tired

Kobe's ego was just too big to let MJ make the game-winning shot. He wanted it for himself. If O'Neal didn't foul him, the shot may have gone in. It's probably better that he did foul, but I still blame O'Neal. After Kobe missed his second free-throw, MJ must have told him that he had better make his last shot... or else.

As a Cavs fan, I know what MJ can do with last-second game-winning shots. Let MJ walk off into the sunset like the hero that he is.

See, I thought about all this and I was wondering if the West should have just given up after Jordan's shot. But you know, if you give him the game like that, it would be more insulting to Jordan. He doesn't want hand outs. He had an amazing shot at the end of the first overtime, but a game is a game.

I like the way he played. I think it's cool he came back and took a chance. Do I admire him? Not the way most people do. Mostly I liked his competitiveness. Something Kobe has and Vince lacks.

I grew up watching Magic Johnson.

MJ got everything and more from his fans and the media. To me he was just the best player on another team. He brought endorsements to another level and his game was argubly the best.

I wish he would of had someone like Kobe to battle with. Magic vs. Bird were some of best games I ever saw. I saw an aging and depleted Lakers and a sorry Detroit team going against the Bulls. His last championship was against the Jazz, the most futile organization in the history of sports. All that talent and no heart.
He had his retirement party at the Jazz's expense.

Now there are very hungry players in the league and lot of people who used to lose to MJ on a regular basis. Stern would of wanted to see MJ win it, but KG had other plans.
