I think this is entirely stupid and a chauvanistic thing. First off, the LPGA Tour is for the best Women's golfers, while the PGA tour is for the best golfers, whether they be male, female, dog, martian, klingon, ghost, whatever. This is written in the mission statements of each tour.

if it was simply a matter of strength, the women would just bulk up. that's not the only difference. in categories other than driving, men still have the advantage.
sand saves: the best female golfer would be only the 70th best male in this category. green in regulation: annika sorenstam, the most accurate female golfer, would only be the 7th best male in this category. putts: here women fare a little better. the best female putter would be the 3rd best male in this category. |
