How About Them Astros???

NO HITTER WITH 6 PITCHERS! First time in MLB history a no-hitter with 6 pitchers. First No-no v. the Yankees in 45 years. Dotel with 4 Ks in one inning v. Rivera, Soriano, Jeter, and Giambi. 8 straight strikeouts.

HELL YEAH!

I didn't see the game, so I don't know what the situations were, but I'm curious as to why the 'stros actually needed 6 pitchers to complete the game. It's a cool feat, but it would have been more impressive with less pitchers.

1. Roy Oswalt only pitched one inning because he tweaked his groin again.

2. Pete Munro pitched a little more than two innings.

3. Kirk Saarloos pitched for a little more than one inning.

4. Brad Lidge pitched 2 innings.

5. Dotel had 4 k's in one inning.

6. And Billy Wagner topped it off with his untouchable fastballs.

It's kinda sad when you have more than a 200 million dollar payroll and can't get a hit!

GO 'STROS!

sounds like the multiple pitchers were part of a strategy to get around NY's hitters. If everyone prepares to hit against their starter, then they wouldn't be prepared to hit against 6 different pitchers. Perhaps they didn't plan on having their starter go out so early, but all in all, if it truly was the astros strategy it was a good one

By the time the Astros returned to their clubhouse, the Yankees had left a bottle of champagne in front of the locker of all six pitchers.

"That's how the Yankees are, they're pretty classy," Wagner said.

That's kinda cool!

Yeah that's very cool. The Yankees do have a lot of class. If it weren't for a bastard owner, I would be a Yankee fan (in addition to being an Astros fan).

Are you nuts?? I would rather have Oswalt on the mound over anyone at this point. Our bullpen is overpitched and a complete game or 7 inning outing would do wonders at this point. Our bullpen just stepped it up again and delivered a masterful performance.

But it doesn't help the Yankees that they've never seen Lidge or Saarlos before. I even bet that they've never seen Oswalt's stuff live before. This is the fun of interleague, as pitchers and hitters on both sides aren't very familiar with each other.

So you're partly right. The Yankees were not prepared for our pitchers, but it was certainly NOT our strategy. Starter by committee is not a good idea, but today WE KICKED ASS!!!

Btw Jimy Williams loves to use a lot of pitchers so it's not new that we used so many in a game.

I'll give it to you though, it's nice to see Yankee fans appreciate history. In the bottom of the ninth, they were cheering for Wagner to close out the game. Plus the 6 bottles of champagne.

Hopefully the Yanks got their bad news out of the way for the week. I'm going to tomorrow's game against St. Louis . . . aka Roger Clemens' next bid for 300 . . . also his shot at 4,000 Ks . . . and Tino's return to Yankee Stadium . . . could be a very fun night!

ohhhh you're gonna have your revenge tonight. After Miller and Oswalt, we astros fans cross our fingers when our next 3 starters pitch. Our hope is that they don't give up the barn until at least the 7th inning. After that, it's done. Lidge, Dotel, Wagner, game over. But getting to Lidge...not THAT's the challenge.

Redding isn't all that bad! He's been pretty consistant with his pitching.

Meh...I love all our pitchers...remember Scott Elarton? I still cheer for him...but we really need to trade for another starter...

they are pretty dinged up right now if you hadnt noticed

the pen sucks at the moment and the run support isnt there.

the yankees play to win but if they are beaten by someone life goes on. i dont know why people cant look past what they pay players, many times players get traded away and will never see the kind of money the yanks gave them. they pay them because they expect them to play as well as they can day in day out.

I saw the replay of this game on Wednesday night and it was awesome. Houston's bullpen is kick ass. Wish we had some of that over here in SD :cry2:

Yeah, it looks like Jimy is still having trouble winning games at Fenway.

(sorry, I'm a Sox fan )

Jimmy Williams is way overrated as a manager. Sure he overachieved with some of those Red Sox teams a few years ago. However when it reaches September, his teams always collapse.

Bah...don't the Red Sox always collapse?

Then again, so do the Astros, so it's not like it's new to us...

True that....the 'Stros are SERIOUS chokers...

On a happier note....

the 'Stros scored 7 runs in the top of the 9th yesterday! Destroyed the Rangers 12-3! Yay!
