As of this morning there were two. Sasaki the closer for the Seattle Mariners is out 10-15 days because he brusied his ribs "carrying his suitcase up a flight of stairs" after a road trip. And a player from the Miami Heat will be out a few weeks with some finger problems because "locked them in the shower door". I'm not sure what's worse, the truth that would damage your image or stupid excuses that will get you heckled for the rest of your carrer.

Don't forget Jeff Kent hurting himself while washing his truck . . . and there was a pitcher who hurt himself while leaning back in a chair and tipping it over . . . then David Cone having to miss a start because his aunt's dog bit him . . . and, if my memory serves me, Wade Boggs having to go on the DL because he fell while putting on his pants . . .

Stupid accidents happen to everyone . . . even great athletes, I suppose.
