So who's your team?

Trying to figure out if there are any true fans in here or if most people just jump fromt team to team.

For me it's very simple, all of my teams are from So Cal. I only buy, pay to go see and support the home team.

Los Angeles teams have been both very good and very bad to me but thats life.
Lakers - following since before Magic. I watch when they win and when they lose. Best organization in sports IMO.
Dodgers - Garvey days and before. Kirk Gibsons home run is, besides the Lakers title runs, my most memorable sports experience. Quite a dry spell but there's always next season.
Kings - Back when they wore those fugly purple/gold jerseys.
Nothing but pain and grief. Even the Great one couldnt fix it, but theres nothing like a Kings home game.
Ex Raider - I hate Al Davis. Fans got to be too stupid and when he moved the team I threw out my hats etc. Been waiting for a L. A. team since they left. Actually rooted against them in the Last superbowl.
USC - 1st game I ever went to was a SC football game with my future Uncle. You kinda choose one or the other (UCLA) and it sucked for 10+ years, but now its kinda fun.

I like the Clippers... I sometimes even like them to beat my Lakers just cuz it raises them up and doesn't usually cost the Lakers anything but some pride.

I mostly only follow Laker basketball and USC football (on Saturdays), but the rest I don't have time to consistantly keep up with. Besides watching (and hoping on) the Dodgers can be bad for ones heart. I like going to Kings home games but not watching on TV.

Golden State Warriors, San Francisco Giants, and San Jose Sharks. A basketball team near the bottom of the barrel, a baseball team that's underachieved the past couple of years, and a hockey team that also finds itself... near the bottom of the barrel. It isn't easy being loyal to losing teams, but where I'm from sports fans keep it real.

Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Cavaliers and the Detroit Red Wings. Growing up in NW Ohio will do that to ya!

my teams:

pros:
detroit pistons: it was during their championship years in 89 and 90 that i first became a sports fan, and they were my first "team". i followed them as the dynasty declined and the dark days and largely unfulfilling grant hill era set in. i was still following them when jerome williams was the leading attraction many nights. and i'm still following them as their rebuilding project starts to look better and better.

detroit red wings: you can't grow up in michigan without loving the wings....even when they lose way too many first-round playoff series to upstart teams.

detroit lions: yeah, the lions. yeah, they suck, especially since barry left. but hey, i remember the one playoff game that they've won since the 1950s (it was in the 1992 playoffs, i believe)

detroit tigers: fortunately, i'm not a huge baseball fan. of course, that's probably because the tigers have sucked for as long as i've been following sports.

i have other teams that i'll follow, usually because i like particular players, and in the case of the lions and tigers, you have to have someone to root for when the postseason comes around.

college:
michigan state spartans: the only college team for me, no matter what the sport. i grew up in the area and received a green blood transfusion from the neighbor kids when i was 8 or 9. i've lived and died with them ever since.

then, of course, there are the teams i hate (in no particular order): hockey: colorado avs; nfl: raiders, bucs; nba: lakers (sorry jel ), bulls; baseball: yankees; college football: florida, florida state, miami, nebraska; college hoops: duke, unc

oh, and i would be remiss to mention an overall hatred for the michigan wolverines -- heck, if the lakers played the wolverines, i'd root for the lakers!

The Underdogs.

The only two teams I will root for over any others: my high school and my college.

my teams

SD Chargers: I couldn't finish watching the game last monday. It was too painful!

SD Padres: Approx. every 10-14 years, we're destined to go to the World Series. I think we're due. (if we can get a good pitching crew... some relievers, please?)

LA Lakers: Born and raised that way. Uncle and Dad were fans, and I watched games since the Magic/Worthy/Kareem days (I first started watching/following b-ball during Kareem's last season)

UCLA: Just coz I went there. (Right now, undefeated in the Pac10! Boo yah!)

I'm not fanatical, but I will stand by my teams.

i doubt anyone would willingly choose either of the last two choices...

as for myself:

Celtics - my dad was a fan since back in the day, and the first basketball game i watched on tv was a celtics game.

Kings (Sacramento) - hometown team. been a fan since i came back to the states in '86, when they wore those nasty baby blue uniforms and their stars were kenny smith, otis thorpe, lionel simmons, and wayman tisdale (hard times, friends, hard times). first game i ever went to was a kings game, and anyone who's been to arco can tell you it's a crazy time, especially for a little fourth grader.

Dodgers - again, just adopted my dad's favorite team. ironic because i'm closer to Giants territory, but i hated them with a passion. i don't like baseball that much any more, so i don't care about the dodgers as much any more either. i don't even know who's on the team.

49ers - they used to have their training camp at sierra college in sacramento, and i saw them there a couple of times. closest team to home when i started getting interested in sports, and it didn't hurt that they were pretty damn good at the time too. again, i don't keep up with football any more, so i'm not as big a fan as i used to be.

I'd prolly put myself up as a fanatic if it didn't say anything about my firstborn. since i don't have a firstborn...it would prolly mean losing my balls and i don't want that.

anyways:

NFL: Dolphins. I loved that monday night game became a fan in second grade. my buddy loved them....got me into them.

NBA: Knicks. I'll go down with the knicks. please give us a real PG.

NHL: Islanders. Man....so depressing to root for them, but I'll keep on rooting for them.

MLB: METS!!! LET'S GO METS! prolly the team i follow the most. i passed by shea stadium every week growing up on my way to church and marvled at the big blue stadium. I still remember sneaking out of bed to watch the last couple games in 86 (i was 7 years old then - way past my bedtime)

College: errr, don't really follow college all that much, though now that I'm in baltimore, I've been following the Terps. Pretty much, I'll root for my home team (which included Seton Hall, UPitt, and now U maryland).

but yeah...one thing i noticed about my teams in hindsight (yeah, go ahead...call me a girl) the all have similar colors - especially that orange. guess it also has something to do with some teams in the same city usually has the same colors (pittsuburgh pirates/steelers/penguins, chicago blackhawks/bears, the NY teams, etc)

MLB: Yankees
NFL: Don't have a favorite, if I had to pick I would say Vikings because Culpepper went to my school
NBA: Orlando Magic
NHL: Rangers
NCAA: UCF (gotta root for your own school, even if they arent a powerhouse. But I also root for the schools which my best friends go to.)

MLB: Houston Astros
NFL: Houston Texans
NHL: Calgary Flames
NBA: Houston Rockets
NCAA: Brown...hahaha

I lived in Calgary when they won the Stanley cup in 1989. It's been painful ever since.

The first city I ever lived in with major league teams was Houston so that's why I like the Houston Teams.

Brown's my alma mater, but rooting Brown sports teams is like rooting for a squirrel to cross the highway without getting run over...or like rooting for your progress bar to finish as you download stuff...it just doesn't matter...

Likewise, it's my duty as a Brown Alum to make fun of Columbia (where?)

My only thrill of cheering for Brown (our "ivy championship" doesn't count...that was lame) was when our basketball team made the NITs. This is amazing since we never make the post season in anything. Our first (and only ) game was against Virginia which was great since I live in Northern Virginia. The best part was that the Brown Band, of which I was a member of for 4 years, drove down as well in a marathon. Game was on a Wednesday, left early Wednesday from Providence, left Virginia after the game and got back Thursday morning...24 hours on a bus.

What was amazing was seeing Brown and the Band in the Virginia stadium, an ACC stadium, with their coach whom I recognize from TV. It was really amazing.

speaking of suck...have you ever seen a collegiate kicker kick a field goal or extra point try UNDER his offensive line?

I'm a Michigan Wolverines fan because my father went to grad school there and his brother attended both undergrad and grad. Naturally, EVERY Thanksgiving when i was growing up there'd be a huge gathering of friends and family to watch Michigan football.

Anyway, I have never been to Ann Arbor to catch a game, so I don't know how obnoxious the fans are...but I do know that I have NEVER met fans as rude and obnoxious as Boston Red Sox fans. They're ALL A$$holes.

Wanna know the secret to the most consistantly successful dynasty:

"...I have probably the best general manager [Mitch Kupchak] in the business. I have probably the best coach in the business. That's their jobs, to take care of those things. My job is to sit up in the box and let them win."
Jerry Buss - Lakers owner.

Al Davis could learn a thing or two.

I only follow football

I'm a 9ers fan, because everyone I knew was a LA Rams fan, or a Raiders Fan, and I hated both those teams, so at the ripe age of 5 or so (the year my favorite team at the time went to the Super Bowl... Go Cincy ) I've stayed a 9ers fan.

I watch volleyball, indoor/outdoor, male or female it doesn't matter, as long as I get to watch it's sooo entertaining.. and so much more fun to play.

Other than that, i couldn't careless about most of the other sports
