Butterfly Effect
Went and saw this movie last night with my friend and fiancee. It is probably one of the better movies I have seen in a long time (other than LOTR).
Be warned, it does have several disturbing events that many people (including my fiancee) will not like to see. However, I believe that the scene's are more than worth it. Great movie. LK |

I saw a matinee today and I must say that it was better than I expected, which was not hard to do because I expected the worst with Ashton Kutcher in a non-comedic role (i.e. Dude, Where's My Car?). The plot was fairly clever, but I really was expecting a big let-down of an ending. While not the most creative ending, I was able to accept it and felt that it added some depth to the whole thing. I really was waiting for Ashton to turn and point at the camera at the end and yell, "Haha, you just got punk'd!"

What do you mean by disturbing events LK? I wanted to go see it with my girlfriend - are you talking about jumpy scenes? Like horror movie style??

There were some scene's that were a bit graphic or could be disturbing to some people. My GF liked the concept of the movie but did not like the scene's all that much, but that wasn't really her kind of movie, she went because she knew I wanted to see it and a friend of ours went with.
For example, there is one where Aston's character is involved in a kiddie porn event. Another involving a dog, a can of gas, a fire, and a very mean kid. It ain't pretty, but it is a good story. |

Thanks for mentioning that LK. I am not going to take my girl to watch it because seeing a dog get hurt would ruin the movie for her and therefore for me. But the 'slaw told me a little more about it so I do want to check it out. Maybe I'll just Netflix it.
Good reviews fellas.

Quote:
*MINOR SPOILER ALERT* The dog is never shown actually being injured, but rather it is implied. You do see lighter fluid being drizzled onto a canvas bag that the dog is supposedly in, but you don't actually see the dog. I realize that some people may not even want to think about any situation that involves an animal being harmed, so I understand where you are coming from Esdee. However, you've probably already figured out from any trailers for this movie that it involves "going back in the past to change stuff", so let's just say that even though it is implied that the dog is killed at one point, it actually ends up surviving the movie. |
