this is crazy - just saw that Celtics coach Jim O'Brien quit/was fired.

what makes this crazy is that i was just reading an article in the NYTimes today which said that O'Brien was the longest-tenured coach in the eastern conference. (link) what's more, according to the article, 13 of the 15 teams in the eastern conference have a different coach now than they did at the end of last season, with terry stotts of the Hawks, with 13 months on the job, being the only holdover.

it's just insane, imo. i think the fact that the eastern conference sucks so much could in part be linked to the instability in a lot of the organizations. i mean, it doesn't help when you are working with a lower talent level, but the constant turnover makes it impossible to build anything out of the talent you do have.
