Pudge To The Tigers....
Full Story:http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1725282
Associated Press DETROIT -- Ivan Rodriguez finalized his $40 million, four-year contract with the Detroit Tigers on Monday, leaving the World Series champion Florida Marlins to join a team that last year set the American League record for losses.

oh yeah! the tigers finally got somebody! it's a start, and it shows that illich is willing to shell out the big bucks to bring in some decent players.
hopefully, they can build around him and get closer to a .500 season this year. |

finally official...
rumored all weekend, boras denied a completed deal, and finally... besides japan, this was pudge's only hope for a contract he was seeking.... (hate boras) i could see pudge helping them out to an extra 15 games..... with all the offseason acquisitions, it'll be tough to get over 500 though...dissappointing considering that if they made some great moves, they might have been able to contend this year considering how little the rest of the al central did. |

What a schmoe. He would rather go play IN DETROIT for a terrible team than stay in MIAMI and play for a championship, just because of a little money. No class.

whatever....he signed that marlins contract....for 1 year. 10 mil.
going in, he signed for the money. nobody expected the marlins to even make the playoffs. that shows how good he is (obviously not singlehandedly, but nobody's going to deny that pudge wasn't a big difference maker). boras and his crazy demands, and the market being the way it is, I'm happy for pudge. at least he didn't go to the yankees |

i just hope tigers do SOMETHING good with him. and i hope he doesn't get "injured" at the beginning of the season.
maybe a better tigers/lions team will bring better parking. |

Loria trashed the team anyway, he lost more than a few decent/good players due to his tightwad mindest. Its really to bad, he is doing the same thing Heuzenga did. It wasn't just a little bit of money either. He had to jump on the chance to get a long-term contract, it was the smart thing to do and he deserved it. LK |

http://www.ballparkwatch.com/feature...e_2003_mlb.htm This shows that Florida actually had LESS attendence than Detroit. Florida fans simply aren't great baseball fans. As far as Pudge, if he felt that this was what he needed to go for, then you can't fault him. Hope he doesn't expect to be in the World Series again anytime soon. |

As a former resident of Miami and a person who attended 2 playoff (cubs) games and a WS game, I can attest that Miami fans are trash. For example, I went to a Fri/Sat combo playoff game for the Cubs. Fri night, the cubs came out and kicked some butt, beat the schnitt out of the Marlins. Stadium was packed but people started leaving at the bottom of the 5th. Fast forward to Sat night, 68k attended Fri night, only 50someK attended Sat night. 18k drop in attendance because they lost ONE game. Of course, once they won that one then Miami went all crazy. And, of course, they are STILL blaming the owner for making them less interesting...GO CIRCULAR LOGIC! LK |

I think Florida people just don't like paying $10 to see these players during spring training (and up much closer) and then have to pay $60 to see the same players (from further away and with higher priced food) during the regular season. I know I don't.

along the same line here: I personally refuse to support any of the major teams by seeing them live. I am not paying $50+ to see multi-color'd ants. <Bush Sr.> Not Gonna Do It. </Bush Sr.> /rant off |
