Actress Drew Barrymore Named 'Friend of the U.N.'

Quote:
Actress Drew Barrymore became on Thursday the first person to be named "A Friend of the U.N." by a new organization called "Artists for the U.N."
Quite a prestigious honor.

Quote:
When Barrymore received her Dove of Peace, she gushed, "This is the first time I've ever been pinned I'm serious."

The 28-year-old "Charlie's Angels" star added, "We wake up every morning thinking, like, what more can we do in this world to make it a better, happier, more peaceful and beautiful place?

"I always say this is so silly but I wish there were, like, little boxes at every corner that you could list the thing that speaks to you, like: I love the environment, I want to protect it! I care about animals! I care about the AIDS epidemic!" she said.
This is like, the perfect relationship. A ditzy, airheaded, completely dipstick actress getting into bed with a ditzy, airheaded, completely wanker world organization. Man, talk about a marriage made in stupidity!

Possibly, but for sure the U.S. is an enemy of the U.N.:

"The U.N. increasingly wants to influence our environmental, trade, labor, tax and gun laws," he contends. "Its global planners simply aren’t interested in our Constitution and republican form of government."

"The choice," says Paul, "is very clear. We either follow the Constitution and republican form of government or submit to global governance. American national sovereignty cannot survive if we allow our domestic laws to be crafted by an international body."

This isn't just another politician sounding off for the cameras. In fact, the Texas Republican (and one-time Libertarian Party presidential candidate) has a wealth of expert opinion on his side.

Noted constitutional scholar Herb Titus has thoroughly researched the United Nations and its so-called "authority" and finds that the U.N. charter is not a treaty at all. Rather, he says, it is a blueprint for supranational government that directly violates the U.S. Constitution.

In other words, the Charter - though sacred to one-worlders for over a half century - is neither politically nor legally binding upon the American people or government.

Here’s Congressman Paul’s bottom line: "The U.N. has no authority to make 'laws' that bind American citizens, because it does not derive its power from the consent of the American people."

Well put. The UN was never intended to have legislative powers of any kind. It was meant to be a forum, a knowledge base for member nations to gather and discuss world issues. It's designers 50 years ago would be turning over in their graves if they knew of the military and social alliances that are created/broken in its name.

Jane Fonda knew jack about communism and actually supported it during the VN War. Looked what happen in VN and Cambodia after communists took over. My country has suffered for over 50 years under communism.

You are from Vietnam? Would you care to elaborate on your thoughts a bit?

My grandfather (a judge), my dad (a pharmacist in the military), and my uncle were all sent to the so-called "reeducation camp" aka jail after 1975 because they worked for the SVN government. We suffered and could not advance because of them. Over 2 million pple left the country and about half of them died on the way. Turned the country (SVN at least) from one of the best in Southeast Asia to one of the worse in the world (at least economy). Prostitution is worse now than before 1975 in SVN. AIDS epidemic is only behind Thailand in Asia. The gap of rich and poor is huge and the only pple who get rich are the communists (corruption). My grandfather's brother was executed in 1945 because he held a position in the government. Millions of pple were killed/executed since 1945. During the Tet of 1968, thousands of pple in Hue were executed by the communists when they took over the city. Those are not every bad thing that they did since took over (1954 in the north and 1975 in the south). Someone said that don't believe what the communists say but looked at what they do and it's very true.

Thank you for sharing that bachviet. I am not very knowledgable about the history of Vietnam but I have heard similar accounts from a Vietnamese coworker of mine. I'll have to do some reading on the subject because it sounds like a very tragic period.
