Question iTunes, winamp, and .m4p files

i'm not sure if this fits under the software section, but oh well... so basically i dl'ed a couple of songs off of iTunes, but the only program i have in my limited software library that will play the .m4p iTunes files is the actual iTunes program itself.

this annoys me.

friend of mine told me the latest version of winamp would play songs dl'ed off iTunes, but i have so far found this to be untrue, unless somebody knows of some sort of tweaking i'm supposed to do to winamp in order to be able to play the iTunes songs.

anybody know exactly what the story is on this? i've resorted to burning the iTunes songs (i've only bought maybe 4 songs total) onto a CD and then re-ripping the CD into mp3 format... this also annoys me. please help...
