Dontrelle Willis is THAT good!

Dang, I didn't know he was that good. I wish I would have seen him in High School. I think he played my high school team a few times.

Quote:
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) -- The way Dontrelle Willis has been hitting, the Florida Marlins might be tempted to move him up in the batting order.

Willis hit his second career homer and Miguel Cabrera homered for the fourth straight game, leading the Florida Marlins over the punchless Montreal Expos 9-0 Wednesday night.

Willis (2-0) went 3-for-3, also singling and doubling, and is 6-for-6 at the plate this season. He also homered last May 31 against Cincinnati.

The NL Rookie of the Year has seven consecutive hits dating to last season, one shy of the club record held by Gary Sheffield and Preston Wilson.

"I didn't know that at all. That's really impressive. That's a great class to be in," said Willis.

Florida's cleanup hitter, Mike Lowell, said Willis' ability at the plate changes the way opposing teams pitch against the Marlins.

"They can't pitch around him. It's like an American League game when he's on the mound," Lowell said. "I would actually bat him fourth next time," added the third baseman, cracking a smile.

Florida, which had 15 hits, built a 5-0 lead on Lowell's RBI single in the first, Hee Seop Choi's leadoff homer in the second, Mike Redmond's two-run single in the third and Luis Castillo's RBI single in the fourth following Willis' leadoff double.

Willis homered in the fifth off Jeremy Fikac.

"We were kidding him in the dugout that they couldn't show his average in the scoreboard because it didn't fit," Cabrera said.

The left-hander allowed four hits in five innings, walked four and struck out four.

Damn that's an impressive run for a pitcher.

Yeah, until he chokes on the mound like he did on Game 1 in Miami with the Cubbies. 3 runners on base and he throws a grand slam causing pitch. 1st inning, 4th batter.

Whoops.

Don't mistake a hot streak for incredible skill. Willis' teammate Cabrera has 6 HR to lead the majors, including a 4-game HR streak. I don't think he'll continue that throughout the year though. The point is, players like Willis and Cabrera are hot now, but don't be surprised if they cool off and come back down to earth in a bit.

ROFL, you gotta be joking me.

Loria wouldn't sign Pudge, probably the person who can take credit for winning the series. He also lost 2-3 other key players. The Marlins probably wont even make the playoffs. Besides, Miamis fans suck so much nobody will go watch them now anyway.

Their pitching's throwing smoke right now (their 13 earned runs against is tied for the fewest through 9 games)... to put them at a solid 7-2 to start the season. I had counted them out too, with Pudge gone and Lowell nursing an injury, but like slaus said, you never know. It certainly won't be like Anaheim though... win it all and then the following year you're battling it out with Texas for LAST place. The Marlins were overachievers last year, and they seem to be overachieving at the start of this year.
