Hidalgo is a good player he just needs more playing time. And as for Koch...former A's reliever....as the drunk guy yelled behind me at the playoff game where he was closing..."Go Big C@ck!!!"

Hildago got a lot of playing time...he was on a roll when the season first started. But he has just stunk it up for the last few months. And our bullpen needs a little bit of help. So let's hope this does it.
Let's hope Jason Lane does a good job.

Great trade for the Mets. we get 4 mil along with hidalgo, for a old reliever who's stunk it up this year (and we got plenty of pen arms from AAA to call up), and a "prospect" who failed to prove himself last year and this year.
oh and Billy Koch???? I thought the Marlins didn't have any money?????? but yeah, seems somewhat similar with what they did last year in acquiring urbina....cept Urbina was pitching well last year, and Koch has been sucking it up this year. |

So I'm not sure what the Astros really got out of this. Hidalgo's contract is up after this year, right?
He's paid $12 Million this year, of which I'm guessing the 'stros have already paid half. They pay another $4 million to the Mets, and pick up $2million of Weather's salary. Break even here maybe? Was there a $2 million buyout at the end of this year for his contract? Maybe that's it, I don't know. |

The Mets get a possible solid bat for almost nothing. They'll buyout Hidalgos contract at the end of the year because he's not worth 15 million but it involves no risk.
Bigger question for the Mets is when do they promote David Wright? |

yes, there was a 2 mil buyout so, in the end, the Astro's are saving about 3 mil, adding middle relief help (if weathers can regain to his form of past couple of years). also, opens up a spot for Jason Lane who've they wanted to give real playing time, but just haven't had room with Craig Biggio doing so well. |

Great that I can recycle my Title. Good for my A's it is what they need. Hopefully they will pickup nad play good ball in the second half like they always do. I always said Arthur Rhodes wasn't the closer they needed.
